Full job description
We are PMG
PMG, a global independent platform company engineered for impact, integrates business strategy, media, creative, and data within a single operating model powered by our proprietary operating system, Alli. With more than 1,000 employees, PMG partners with brands including Apple, Nike, Dropbox, Experian, Sephora, and Whole Foods. Our work has earned top industry honors, including Cannes Lions and Adweek’s Media Plan of the Year, and PMG has won 40+ workplace culture awards, including being the only company to rank among Ad Age’s Best Places to Work for 11 consecutive years.
Who You Will Be Working With
At PMG, commerce is where strategy proves itself. It is how integrated communications, media, and experience translate into measurable revenue and long-term growth. As client expectations continue to evolve, the ability to connect demand creation to demand capture has become a critical differentiator for our clients and for PMG in how we enable their growth.
As a Commerce Director, you will lead integrated commerce strategy for key clients, helping them navigate complex challenges and turn business goals into actionable growth plans. You will work across retail media, marketplaces, direct-to-consumer commerce, customer experience, and performance media to connect the full customer journey and deliver measurable outcomes.
This is a highly client-facing role. You will build trusted relationships with senior client partners, guide cross-functional teams, and bring clarity to complex commerce decisions. You will also contribute to new business opportunities, help expand existing client relationships, and support the continued evolution of PMG’s commerce capabilities.
This role is intentionally broad and collaborative. You will have the opportunity to shape how commerce comes to life for your clients while partnering with leaders across Media, Strategy, Analytics, Technology, and Creative.
What You Will Be Doing
Lead integrated commerce strategy for key clients, translating business objectives into clear, actionable growth plans.
Serve as a trusted, client-facing commerce partner by diagnosing commercial challenges, identifying opportunities, and guiding decision-making.
Develop commerce strategies that connect integrated communications, media investment, customer experience, and performance outcomes across the full funnel.
Lead omnichannel commerce planning across listings, promotions, retail media, marketplaces, and direct-to-consumer experiences, ensuring product visibility, offers, and investment work together effectively.
Embed commerce thinking upstream in planning so brand, media, and creative strategies account for downstream purchase behavior and business growth.
Build and oversee test-and-learn programs across automation, product detail page optimization, campaign experimentation, and emerging commerce experiences.
Turn experimentation into practical insights that help clients improve performance, adopt new approaches, and make more confident investment decisions.
Partner closely with Integrated Communications Planning, Converged Media, Analytics, Technology, and Transformation teams to ensure strategies are integrated, measurable, and executable.
Guide the use of data, technology, and platforms, including Alli, to support scenario planning, forecasting, optimization, and performance measurement.
Maintain a strong point of view on evolving commerce trends, platforms, and operating models across DTC, marketplaces, retail media, and emerging commerce experiences.
Contribute to business development by shaping commerce propositions, supporting pitches, and demonstrating how PMG can deliver commercial impact.
Identify opportunities to expand and deepen existing client partnerships through commerce-led innovation and growth strategies.
Partner with senior Commerce leadership to develop frameworks, best practices, and learning agendas that strengthen PMG’s capabilities across teams.
Lead, mentor, and develop team members while creating clarity, accountability, and opportunities for growth.
Promote collaboration across disciplines and help teams deliver high-quality work without creating functional silos.
What You Will Bring
10+ years of relevant experience in commerce, growth strategy, retail media, ecommerce, or performance-led roles, with a strong record of driving measurable business outcomes.
Experience leading commerce strategy for complex clients, brands, retailers, or marketplaces.
Confidence and credibility in senior client environments, with the ability to lead strategic conversations and influence decisions.
Strong strategic acumen, paired with enough practical commerce expertise to connect strategy to execution.
Deep understanding of commerce mechanics, including product discovery, listings, promotions, retail media, marketplaces, conversion optimization, and experimentation.
Experience using data, analytics, AI, and technology to improve decision-making, learning, and performance.
Ability to lead integrated work across Media, Strategy, Analytics, Technology, Creative, and client teams.
Experience contributing to organic account growth, new business pitches, or the development of client propositions.
Strong storytelling and communication skills, particularly in client-facing and leadership settings.
Experience mentoring or developing others and raising the quality of work across a team.
Comfort operating in ambiguity, balancing multiple priorities, and adapting as client needs and commerce platforms evolve.
A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to align teams through influence, clarity, and shared goals.
Curiosity and adaptability as a Continual Learner, staying ahead of evolving commerce platforms, behaviors, and technologies.
A Customer-Focused approach, grounded in helping clients succeed commercially through practical, insight-led solutions.
