We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Residuals Manager to oversee and optimize the sale and transportation of residual byproducts (e.g., chips, sawdust, bark, shavings) from nine sawmill operations across the U.S. and Canada. This critical role involves managing daily residual operations, ensuring product quality, building strong relationships, rate negotiation, and supporting sustainable business growth—all while maintaining the highest standards of safety, integrity, and professionalism.

Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of residuals (byproducts) from 9 sawmills across the U.S. and B.C. Canada.
Coordinate the purchase of hog fuel for Hampton boiler operations and assist with log yard cleanup as needed.
Serve as the primary contact for all residual-related enquiries such as phone calls, texts, and emails in a timely manner.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with sawmill teams (plant managers, supervisors, boiler operators, maintenance staff) and external stakeholders (carriers, customers, vendors).
Develop and execute plans to optimize profitability without disrupting sawmill operating schedules.
Negotiate product pricing with customers and freight rates with carriers.
Optimize freight rates where possible.
Maintain compliance with Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification requirements in addition to European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) reporting.
Monitor and analyze global market trends to inform pricing, inventory, and strategic decisions.
Collaborate with senior leadership to provide market updates, supply forecasts, and insights into operational disruptions or downtime.
Ensure seamless logistics and scheduling for customer deliveries and mill pickups.
Provide regular fiber updates and monitor customer concerns, product movements, demand trends, and product quality to ensure customer satisfaction.
Manage financials related to residuals, including monthly reporting and annual budget planning.
Drive new business development while supporting existing customer relationships.
Make informed, critical decisions in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in sawmill operations, forest products, biomass, or related industries.
Strong understanding of residual materials and supply chain dynamics.
Proven ability to negotiate complex contracts and manage vendor/customer relationships.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; able to work effectively across diverse teams and personalities.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Highly self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with remote communication tools.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly (up to 50% of the time).
Experience with SFI certification, EUDR reporting and chip QC preferred.
Lead with integrity, honesty, and a commitment to safety across all interactions.

Work Environment & Availability:
50% office-based - 50% travel to sawmills and customer/vendor locations.
