Job Purpose

We are looking for a Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) to join our medical team in Saudi Arabia, focusing on hepatology. In this field-based, non-promotional role, you will partner with healthcare professionals to support the safe and effective use of GSK medicines and advance evidence-based care for patients with liver disease.

Key Responsibilities

1. Scientific Engagement and Insight Generation

• Serve as a scientific expert in hepatology, sharing fair and balanced clinical and disease-area information with external experts and HCPs.
• Lead scientific engagements (1:1 and group) and medical education activities in line with GSK policies, SOPs and Saudi regulations.
• Gather and communicate high-quality medical insights to shape medical strategy and evidence generation in hepatology.
• Support local evidence generation initiatives, publications and clinical projects relevant to hepatology.
• Ensure all activities are compliant with medical governance, pharmacovigilance and local codes of practice.

2. Inform Decisions and Support Education

• Provide fair, balanced, scientific and evidence-based information on GSK products and disease areas to internal and external stakeholders.
• Plan and deliver medical education programs (GSK-led, collaborative or supported), in accordance with GSK standards for non-promotional activities and local regulations.
• Identify evidence gaps and contribute to the development of local evidence generation plans.
• Support appropriate access to GSK medicines in collaboration with cross-functional teams, in line with local access processes and regulations.
• Represent the Medical function in engagements with external experts, payers, government bodies and formulary committees, where appropriate and permitted.

3. Support Behavior Change Aligned to Guidelines

• Drive and monitor scientific education journeys for HCPs using approved tools and content.
• Engage proactively and reactively (according to local asset registration status) to support updates to therapeutic area guidelines and to educate HCPs on these guidelines.
• Translate clinical guidelines into practical execution protocols for clinical practice, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Respond to unsolicited medical questions about GSK products from HCPs in line with Medical Affairs and Medical Information processes, ensuring information is non-promotional and evidence based.

4. Evidence Generation and R&D Support

• Identify local data gaps and propose evidence generation initiatives in alignment with medical strategy and available resources.
• Support the development, review and implementation of local evidence generation activities, including obtaining required internal approvals and considering budget requirements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive high-quality local publications and scientific communications.
• Identify and communicate opportunities to bring relevant R&D projects to the local operating company, where appropriate.

5. Medical Governance and Compliance

• Ensure all activities comply with GSK policies, SOPs, global and local codes of practice, and Saudi FDA regulations and laws.
• Serve as a key point of contact for assigned therapeutic areas in internal monitoring activities, audits and inspections, as required.
• Execute agreed CAPAs on time and contribute to continuous improvement of medical processes.
• Identify, document and escalate risks related to assigned therapeutic areas, and support development and implementation of mitigation plans.

6. Pharmacovigilance Responsibilities

• Complete required Pharmacovigilance (PV) training and ensure relevant third parties are trained as appropriate in line with local and global PV requirements.
• Ensure PV requirements are embedded in internal and external scientific engagements and medical activities.
• Support PV-related audits and inspections for assigned therapeutic areas.
• Communicate up-to-date safety information to HCPs as part of fair, balanced, and evidence-based scientific exchange.
• Fulfil safety reporting responsibilities for self and ensure others understand and meet their safety reporting obligations.

Role Complexity

• Operates as an individual contributor with medium to high complexity and a high level of autonomy and accountability.
• Requires strong capabilities across scientific communication, medical governance, value and access concepts, and evidence generation.
• Works effectively across boundaries in a matrix organization, collaborating with stakeholders across functions, geographies and cultures.

Minimum Qualifications

• Saudi national.
• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent healthcare degree.
• Valid license from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, SCFHS.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Affairs (strongly preferred).
• Therapeutic experience in hepatology, infectious diseases, specialty care and/or gastroenterology with a strong track record (mandatory).
• Demonstrated experience in preparing and delivering scientific presentations and speaking at scientific or educational events.
• Proven ability to critically evaluate, interpret, present and discuss scientific data with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to priorities and manage workload independently in a dynamic environment.
• Fluent professional English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.

• قيادة الأنشطة العلمية (اجتماعات فردية وجماعية) والبرامج التعليمية الطبية بما يتماشى مع سياسات GSK وإجراءات التشغيل القياسية (SOPs) والأنظمة السعودية.
• جمع ونقل رؤى طبية عالية الجودة للمساهمة في تشكيل الإستراتيجية الطبية وخطط توليد الأدلة في مجال أمراض الكبد.
• دعم مبادرات توليد الأدلة المحلية، والنشر العلمي، والمشاريع السريرية ذات الصلة بأمراض الكبد.
• ضمان التزام جميع الأنشطة بحوكمة الشؤون الطبية، ومتطلبات اليقظة الدوائية (Pharmacovigilance)، والمدونات المحلية لقواعد الممارسة.

دعم اتخاذ القرار والتعليم
• تقديم معلومات علمية منصفة ومتوازنة ومبنية على الأدلة حول منتجات GSK ومجالات الأمراض لأصحاب المصلحة الداخليين والخارجيين.
• التخطيط وتنفيذ برامج التعليم الطبي (التي تقودها GSK أو بالتعاون أو المدعومة منها) وفقًا لمعايير GSK للأنشطة غير الترويجية والأنظمة المحلية.
• تحديد الفجوات في الأدلة والمساهمة في تطوير خطط توليد الأدلة على المستوى المحلي.
• دعم إتاحة الوصول المناسب لأدوية GSK بالتعاون مع الفرق متعددة الوظائف، بما يتماشى مع إجراءات الوصول المحلية والأنظمة ذات الصلة.
• تمثيل الوظيفة الطبية في التفاعلات مع الخبراء الخارجيين، وجهات الدفع، والجهات الحكومية، ولجان القوائم الدوائية (Formulary Committees)، عند الاقتضاء ووفق ما تسمح به الأنظمة.

دعم تغيير السلوك بما يتماشى مع الإرشادات
• قيادة ومتابعة الرحلات التعليمية العلمية لمقدمي الرعاية الصحية باستخدام الأدوات والمحتوى المعتمد.
• التفاعل الاستباقي والرد الفعّال (وفقًا لحالة تسجيل الأصول/المنتجات محليًا) لدعم تحديث إرشادات الممارسة العلاجية والتثقيف بها لمقدمي الرعاية الصحية.
• ترجمة الإرشادات السريرية إلى بروتوكولات عملية قابلة للتطبيق في الممارسة الإكلينيكية، بالتعاون مع أصحاب المصلحة المعنيين.
• الاستجابة للاستفسارات الطبية غير المطلوبة ترويجيًا (غير المرغوبة سلفًا) من مقدمي الرعاية الصحية حول منتجات GSK بما يتوافق مع إجراءات الشؤون الطبية والمعلومات الطبية، مع ضمان أن تكون المعلومات غير ترويجية ومبنية على الأدلة.

توليد الأدلة ودعم البحث والتطوير (R&D)
• تحديد الفجوات في البيانات المحلية واقتراح مبادرات لتوليد الأدلة بما يتماشى مع الإستراتيجية الطبية والموارد المتاحة.
• دعم تطوير ومراجعة وتنفيذ أنشطة توليد الأدلة المحلية، بما في ذلك الحصول على الموافقات الداخلية المطلوبة ومراعاة المتطلبات الميزانية.
• التعاون مع الشركاء الداخليين والخارجيين لدفع نشر أبحاث محلية عالية الجودة والاتصالات العلمية.
• تحديد الفرص المناسبة لجلب مشاريع أبحاث وتطوير ذات صلة إلى شركة التشغيل المحلية وإيصالها، عند الاقتضاء.

الحوكمة الطبية والالتزام
• ضمان التزام جميع الأنشطة بسياسات GSK وإجراءات التشغيل القياسية والمدونات العالمية والمحلية لقواعد الممارسة، وكذلك أنظمة وقوانين هيئة الغذاء والدواء السعودية (SFDA).
• العمل كنقطة اتصال رئيسية للمجالات العلاجية الموكلة في أنشطة المراقبة الداخلية، والتدقيق، والتفتيش، عند الحاجة.
• تنفيذ إجراءات العمل التصحيحية والوقائية (CAPAs) المتفق عليها في الوقت المحدد والمساهمة في التحسين المستمر للعمليات الطبية.
• تحديد المخاطر المتعلقة بالمجالات العلاجية الموكلة وتوثيقها ورفعها، ودعم تطوير وتنفيذ خطط التخفيف من المخاطر.

مسؤوليات اليقظة الدوائية (Pharmacovigilance)
• إكمال التدريب المطلوب في مجال اليقظة الدوائية وضمان تدريب الأطراف الثالثة ذات الصلة حسب الاقتضاء ووفقًا لمتطلبات اليقظة الدوائية المحلية والعالمية.
• ضمان دمج متطلبات اليقظة الدوائية في جميع التفاعلات العلمية الداخلية والخارجية والأنشطة الطبية.
• دعم عمليات التدقيق والتفتيش المتعلقة باليقظة الدوائية للمجالات العلاجية الموكلة.
• نقل المعلومات الأحدث المتعلقة بسلامة الأدوية لمقدمي الرعاية الصحية كجزء من تواصل علمي منصف ومتوازن ومبني على الأدلة.
• الوفاء بمسؤوليات الإبلاغ عن السلامة الخاصة بالموظف، وضمان فهم الآخرين لالتزاماتهم في الإبلاغ عن قضايا السلامة والالتزام بها.

المؤهلات المطلوبة
• سعودي/ة الجنسية.
• درجة البكالوريوس في العلوم الصيدلانية أو درجة معادلة في أحد التخصصات الصحية.
• ترخيص مهني ساري المفعول من الهيئة السعودية للتخصصات الصحية (SCFHS).
• خبرة لا تقل عن سنتين في الشؤون الطبية (يفضل بشدة).
• خبرة علاجية مثبتة في أمراض الكبد، أو الأمراض المعدية، أو الرعاية التخصصية و/أو أمراض الجهاز الهضمي مع سجل أداء قوي (شرط إلزامي).
• خبرة مثبتة في إعداد وتقديم العروض العلمية وإلقاء المحاضرات في الفعاليات العلمية أو التعليمية.
• قدرة مثبتة على التقييم النقدي للبيانات العلمية وتفسيرها وعرضها ومناقشتها مع الشركاء الداخليين والخارجيين.
• مهارات قوية في التنظيم والتخطيط، مع القدرة على تحديد الأولويات وإدارة عبء العمل بشكل مستقل في بيئة ديناميكية.
• إجادة مهنية للغة الإنجليزية؛ تعد مهارات اللغة العربية ميزة إضافية.
