The primary site of inpatient care services is at the University of Toledo Medical Center, but many of our physicians’ practice at hospitals and medical offices throughout the region.
University of Toledo Physicians • Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology
The University of Toledo Physicians (UTP) is seeking Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to join our expanding General Cardiology and Electrophysiology (EP) service line. This position offers a unique opportunity to practice comprehensive cardiovascular care while gaining exposure to electrophysiology within a collaborative, academic medical environment that values teamwork, education, and tradition.
As a member of the Division of Cardiology, you will provide high-quality inpatient care to patients with a wide spectrum of cardiovascular conditions, including arrhythmias and cardiac device management. You will work closely with a collegial team of physicians, advanced practice providers, and administrative staff contributing to both clinical excellence and medical education.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Every 7th weekend clinic coverage
Position Highlights:
Provide comprehensive care for general cardiology and electrophysiology patients.
Conduct inpatient consultations, daily rounding, and ongoing patient management.
Lead outpatient clinic visits including new evaluations, follow-ups, and device checks.
Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, residents, and fellows in an academic environment.
Participate in case discussions, patient education, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Training available for APPs seeking to grow their electrophysiology skillset.
Required Qualifications:
Education
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Master’s degree in the appropriate field
Licensure & Certification
State of Ohio licensure as a Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant
National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Acute Care certification required for Nurse Practitioners
Certificate of Authority (COA) from the Ohio Board of Nursing or Ohio State Medical Board
BLS certification
Eligible to obtain and maintain Certificate to Prescribe and DEA registration
Experience
Minimum of one year of experience in a General Cardiology setting
Electrophysiology experience preferred but not required

Occasional carrying of items weighing up to 30 pounds required.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range and manual dexterity.
Requires the ability to operate various types of office equipment, including but not limited to: Personal computer, fax machines, copiers, telephones
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment on a daily basis.
Must be able to work effectively both with internal and external customers in stressful situations.

Incorporated as MCO Associates in 1973, Dr.Lucien Morris who was then Chairman for the Department of Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Ohio formed MCO Associates. The goal was to find a solution for the MCO physicians to be compensated both academically and clinically. The idea was to split revenue between the hospital and the physicians of the corporation. The business was created and began handling the physicians' billing and collections of the newly created group.
In 2004 the organizational structure was changed from a for-profit to a not-for-profit, and the name changed to MCO Physicians. As a result of the merger of the University of Toledo and the Medical College of Ohio in July, 2006, the group name changed again to the University of Toledo Physicians (UTP).
The organization provides practice management support services to its physician members that includes provider credentialing, health plan enrollment, managed care contracting, compliance, fee schedule maintenance, billing, payment processing and collection services. Also provided is benefit administration services for medical malpractice, payroll, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans and accounts payable services.
