The Emergency Department Technician assists registered nurses with clinical and clerical patient care tasks, including vitals, EKG, and specimen handling. They are also responsible for maintaining department supplies, equipment, and ensuring a safe environment for patients.
Candidates must have at least 6 months of experience in a healthcare field such as EMT, Medical Assistant, or Phlebotomy. American Heart Association BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire, with PALS required within 2 years.
Job Summary
The Emergency Dept Technician works under the supervision of the Nurse Director and/or Manager and is responsible for the care of patients and assists with patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Accountable for patient care, which incorporates clinical and clerical tasks, planning and implementation, evaluation and intervention skills. Also involves the maintenance, stocking of the rooms during shift and upkeep of the department and equipment and supplies.
