The Emergency Department Technician II performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to care. They work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to achieve desired patient outcomes.
Requires a high school diploma and either a relevant certification (CNA, EMT, CMA, Paramedic, CPT), a college degree, or specific clinical experience. A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.

Job Summary/Purpose: The Emergency Department Technician II reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Emergency Department Technician II performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.
Minimum Training and Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required and at least one of the following must be met:
At least 1 year in a .6 FTE ED Technician I position at MUSC
Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, CMA, Paramedic, or Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
Experience in a military medical occupation
At least 1 year of inpatient hospital experience
A college degree
Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider required and must be maintained.
