The GSE Mechanic serves as a subject matter expert responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing Army ground support and material handling equipment. They ensure all assets are compliant with technical manuals, properly documented in Army systems, and maintained to safety and quality standards.
Candidates should have 3-5 years of hands-on experience in GSE or MHE maintenance and familiarity with Army logistics systems like GCSS-Army. The role requires the ability to travel up to 75% of the time and the capacity to obtain a Public Trust background clearance.
The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic Lead is the Subject Matter Expert in support the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Army ground support equipment (GSE) and material handling equipment (MHE) at a contractor-managed equipment turn-in site. This role ensures that GSE assets (e.g., generators, air compressors, hydraulic jacks, power units, forklifts, and specialized support tools) are serviceable, compliant with U.S. Army technical manuals (TMs), and properly prepared for storage, turn-in, or transfer. The GSE Mechanic supports Army readiness and accountability by ensuring equipment is safe, functional, and documented in accordance with Army standards.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform routine standing, walking, bending, and reaching tasks in warehouse and field environments.
Must also meet all physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties, including working in extreme heat or cold, high, or low humidity, blowing sand and dust, confined spaces, heights, and other inclement weather conditions.
This position involves working both indoors and outdoors, periodic overtime, and exposure to heat, dust, cold, and adverse weather conditions.
