SUMMARY: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading all procurement activities Daily’s St Joseph, ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and quality-focused sourcing of raw materials, packaging, and indirect supplies. This role partners closely with operations, quality, finance, and supply chain teams to support production continuity while maintaining compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: other duties may be assigned.
- Collaborate with planning and operations to ensure uninterrupted supply of materials, high quality standards and competitive cost
- Guarantee timely availability of materials by managing inventory transfers between the plant and dry goods warehouse locations in alignment with production demand.
- Serve as a technical expert on materials purchased and used in production, ensuring alignment with operational requirements, quality standards, and cost objectives.
- Drive supplier negotiations to secure best-in-class pricing while balancing quality, service, and risk
- Monitor inventory levels and proactively develop contingency plans to mitigate risk and ensure continuity during supply chain disruptions.
- Partner with plant leadership to improve supply chain and reduce costs
- Supervise purchasing team and develop high-performance capabilities
- Maintain professional vendor relationships
- Manage supplier programs and sourcing strategies
- Lead RFQ/RFP processes and supplier onboarding

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years purchasing/inventory management experience
- Experience with M3/CAT/Tableau systems and software
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to analyze, interpret, and present information. Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to effectively present information before groups, within the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
OTHER SKILLS: Experience with Microsoft Office suite. Advanced Excel required. Experience with purchasing/inventory systems. Strong negotiation and analytical skills. Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) preferred.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to make decisions on routine matters utilizing company policies and procedures and directions from upper management.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about the facility. Lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally. Standing or walking for long periods on concrete floors. Performing physical movements including bending and climbing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions in both inside and outside environments. The noise level in the work environment is usually at a level where OSHA required hearing protection is required.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work as scheduled
