Perform retrospective chart reviews to appeal denied days for various payers and track denial trends to improve reimbursement. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to reduce avoidable delays and enhance the efficient use of hospital resources.
Requires a New York State RN license, a Bachelor's degree (or enrollment), and five years of acute care hospital experience. Proficiency in MCG/Interqual and experience in Case Management, Quality, or Utilization Management is required.
Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide quality retrospective chart reviews for potential appeal of denied days for all payers including government and external denials. Staff track and trend denial activity and work with financial services to capture correct reimbursement for all these cases. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $89,760 - $127,975 Base
The above salary range represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:
Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($4000)
