Associate Accountant

Are you a detail-oriented finance professional looking to grow your career in an international environment? Andrew is looking for an Associate Accountant to join our Madrid team, supporting multiple legal entities and playing a key role in our finance operations.

 

About the Role

As part of the Finance team, you will deliver high-quality accounting support, ensure compliance with Spanish regulations, and contribute to accurate financial reporting. This role offers broad exposure across general accounting, statutory reporting, and Shared Services operations.

 

Required Responsibilities:

• Manage general ledger accounts, including reconciliations and analysis
• Prepare and post journal entries with accuracy and attention to detail
• Ensure full compliance with Spanish VAT, tax, and statutory requirements
• Review account activity, investigate discrepancies, and partner with internal stakeholders
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including adjustments and depreciation
• Prepare financial schedules and reports for management and statutory purposes
• Work closely with the Shared Services Center (SSC) and oversee key activities

 

Additional Responsibilities (Desirable):

• Support fixed asset accounting (acquisitions, disposals, transfers)
• Assist with budgeting and financial analysis
• Prepare financial schedules and reports for management and statutory purposes
• Support external audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation
• Contribute to process improvements and ad hoc finance projects

 

What You’ll Bring:

• Chartered/qualified accountant with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in professional services or tax consulting
• Knowledge of Spanish VAT, tax, and statutory requirements including Spanish GAAP
• Advanced Spanish and a good working knowledge of English

 

Additional Skills That Will Set You Apart

• Experience with SAP
• Advanced Excel skills
• Additional French language skills
