Job Description:
Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.
When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
About E&ES:
Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.
We are looking for top talent to build and scale the next generation of technologies, products and services to help our customers build a better—more sustainable—world. We need self-motivated, intelligent and team-oriented individuals to make our plans a reality. Individuals with high emotional intelligence, humility and openness to discovery will thrive in the teams we are building.
Job Summary:
As an NPI Team Leader within E+ES, you’ll drive complex, industry-altering programs from Launch to completion. You’ll lead cross-functional teams including engineering, commercial, supply chain, and manufacturing through concept definition to fully productionized customer solutions. Your ability to organize teams, leverage talent, and identify and eliminate risk through a multi-stage development cycle will be put on full display. This leader will cultivate relationships across the value stream with the goal of meeting end customer needs through various applications in motors, generators, and power electronics offerings.
What You Will Do:
Clearly communicate, collaborate, and build trust across a diverse range of people – E&E stakeholders, vertical stakeholders, peers, and technical leaders.
Deeply understand and execute product development processes – NPI, NTI, and E&ES bespoke Small Batch process.
Utilize business resource processes and applications to inform and help make product decisions. Closely track and lead program R&D budget management, aligning spend via regular touchpoints with product teams, revising as necessary as program changes dictate, ensuring forecasts accurately reflect stated program deliverables.
Collaborate with Chief Engineers Technical Managers on transitioning new technology projects (NTI) to new product introduction (NPI) projects. Collaborate with the Commercial Team to understand and meet customer needs. Work closely with L5 system technical leads and product group partners.
Contribute to defining the direction for product design, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy with a significant impact on work group results.
Develop/maintain project plans and schedules in collaboration with all E+ES functional areas (product support, life cycle management, engineering, purchasing, validation) and product group teams.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
Oversee project execution, including schedule, cost, and performance; communicate status to stakeholders and functional partners; proactively identify, escalate, and resolve issues.
Influence project staffing decisions; motivate, coach, and develop project teams; communicate with customers to manage expectations; and ensure effective use of project controls and reporting mechanisms.
Developing and refining processes in the project intake and governance space, ensuring consistency and priority alignment for project onboarding.
Manage conflict resolution through effective negotiation, maintaining team momentum throughout the program life cycle.
What You Will Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
