Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.
This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come.
This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.
Job Summary:
Bechtel’s internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands-on experience. Many new university graduate hires have begun their careers at Bechtel as a summer intern.
The various Permitting Engineering tasks at Bechtel demand detail-oriented individuals with multi-faceted skills, particularly in-depth technical expertise, flexibility, enthusiasm for individual and team tasks, and analytical problem-solving capabilities.

Major Responsibilities:
Permitting Engineering interns assist with the following:
Understanding the regulatory requirements and processes for nuclear facilities.
Coordinating the development and presentation of materials for meetings with regulators.
Providing direct support to other engineering disciplines for permitting related matters.
Estimating air emissions.
Performing air dispersion modeling.
Assisting with Environmental Impact Assessments and client permitting applications.
Reviewing construction permit designs.
Assisting with service requisitions.
Support permits development as defined in Strategy for AP1000 Project.
Coordination with internal and external interfaces who are involved in permits developments.
Permits reviews with Customer and Bechtel.
Development of Minutes of Meetings (MoM) documents.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree program in Nuclear or Architectural Engineering at an accredited college or university
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Completed at least one year of studies in one of the above fields
Active student status, in a strong academic standing
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Polish
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
Attention to detail and accuracy
Adaptability and flexibility
