The Teaching Assistant is responsible for scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom duties. This includes preparing seminar materials, grading, proctoring exams, and holding office hours.
Candidates must hold an Honours BA/BSc and a B.Ed, with previous K-12 classroom teaching experience. A background in curriculum design and assessment, and completion of specific EDUC courses, is required.

Compensation
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Duties
The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.
Qualifications
1. Honours BA or Honours BSc
2. B.Ed (P/J, J/I, I/S)
3. Previous successful classroom teaching experience (K-12 classroom setting)
4. Background in classroom assessment and curriculum design
5. Successfully completed EDUC 4P17, EDUC 4P18 or EDUC 4P19
