The Teaching Assistant is responsible for scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom duties. This includes marking, grading, proctoring exams, holding office hours, and preparing seminar materials.
Candidates must hold an Honours BA/BSc and a B.Ed, with a background in Psychology. Previous teaching experience and successful completion of EDUC 3P02/EDUC 3F02 are required.

Compensation
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Duties
The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.
Qualifications
1. Honours BA or Honours BSc
2. B.Ed (P/J, J/I, I/S)
3. Previous successful teaching experience at the elementary, secondary, or postsecondary level
4. Background in Psychology
5. Successfully completed EDUC 3P02/EDUC 3F02

Members shall not accept any appointment which, taken together with all other appointments at the University, would cause the member to exceed the maximum number of regular hours (i.e., not overtime hours) allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act, as amended from time to time.
