The Teaching Assistant is responsible for scheduled contact time with students, including leading seminars and providing student consultation. Additional duties include grading, examination proctoring, and general course administration.

Compensation
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Duties
The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.
Qualifications
1. Applicants must hold a university degree in interactive media or a related field.
2. Evidence of web design background including graphic design, and scripting.
3. Evidence of teaching effectiveness in online course(s) (e.g., through course evaluations and/or academic references).
4. Familiarity with the features of an online learning management system.
NOTE: This course is normally offered online.
