The marker-grader is responsible for marking assignments, exams, and projects while providing detailed written feedback to students. Additional duties include invigilating examinations and entering grades into databases as requested by the instructor.
Candidates must hold an Honours BA or BECE and have a background in Early Childhood Education. Previous teaching experience and evidence of research with early childhood populations are required.

Compensation
Marker-Grader positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
Master’s Degree Complete ($36.00/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed a master’s degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
Undergraduate Degree Complete ($31.04/hour) Paid to employees who have completed a four-year honours degree or a three-year pass degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
Third Year Complete ($22.91/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the third year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
Second Year Complete ($20.15/hour) Paid to employees who have completed the second year of an undergraduate degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
First Year Complete ($19.00/hour) Paid to employees who have completed the first year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
Duties
Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement.
The marker-grader is expected to mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams and must be prepared to provide written feedback to students that will clearly identify the basis of the grade assigned; whether it is due to substantive content, or to written communications, including spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization of the submission.
The marker-grader may be expected to invigilate mid-terms and examinations for this course, or enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.
Qualifications
1. Honours BA or BECE
2. Previous successful teaching experience at the preschool, elementary, secondary, or postsecondary level
3. Background in Early Childhood Education
4. Evidence of research experience with an early childhood population
