Position Summary:
Assists in the supervision of program participants and staff. Assist in the operation, planning, organization, and implementation of summer programs for youth. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Essential Functions:
1.Responsible for assisting program development, planning and supervision in accordance with YMCA standards.
2.Responsible for assisting in keeping site and program safe.
3.Responsible for assisting in the supervision of staff and children in the program, administration of records and financial management, activity planning, implementation and evaluation.
4.Responsible for accurate counts on all children that attend as well as following up with absent children.
5.Assist in conducting health a check of children at the time of arrival to the program
6.Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by Supervisor as well as organize and run volunteer programs such as PAC (program advisory committees) and fundraisers.
7.Ensure the program has necessary supplies and equipment; report any issues to their direct supervisor.
8.Prepare lesson plans and develop lesson plans that are age appropriate and consistent with the mission of the YMCA. Assist other staff in completion and creation of lesson plans.
9.Present subject matter to students; utilizing variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion and supervised role-play in a positive environment.
10.Maintain open lines of communication with participant, parents, staff and supervisor.
11.Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. Must be 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree required and/or pass the District test.
2. Current CPR and 1st Aid Certification required within first 3 months of employment.
3. Criminal Clearance: including fingerprints
4. Health Screening with Negative TB test and Negative drug test screening.
5. Complete all required online training(s).
6. Previous experience with diverse populations.
7. Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
8. Minimum of 1.5 years experience working with and supervising children. Experience with MAC and PC format computers is required. Bilingual with English/Spanish preferred. Some Childhood Education / Child Development units preferred. Some college is required.
Working Conditions:
Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. childcare and recreational sites); exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Noise level is usually moderate.
