Job Summary: Serves as Manager for Spiritual Health and Education for an assigned unit within Emory Healthcare and is responsible for monitoring, staffing, and controlling the comprehensive and integrated resources for spiritual care for a hospital or clinic. Responsible for educating residents and interns under the standards of ACPE. Reports directly to the Director of Spiritual Health at the operating unit of the appointment. Primary duties and responsibilities: 1. Leads Spiritual Health education of interns, residents and CECs under the standards of ACPE. 2. Responsible for application of intern, resident and CEC program curriculum. 3. Provides support for on-going accreditation maintenance with ACPE 4. Ensures that spiritual care is provided to patients, families, and staff for an assigned entity and develops outreach programs to surrounding communities to improve spiritual health within those communities. 5. Supports the mission and integration of ethical values in patient care. 6. Guarantees delivery of spiritual care in an empathic manner ensuring appropriate spiritual care to patients, families, and staff in the assigned entity. 7. Collaborates with departmental and institutional leadership and the system-wide department of Emory Spiritual Health to develop and create spiritual health opportunities in communities supported by the assigned entity. 8. Provides leadership with relevant data supporting staff performance and progress towards key initiatives, plans, and community outreach goals, as appropriate. 9. Participates in Spiritual Health faculty meetings and contributes to accreditation preparation, reviews, and site visits. 10. Performs related responsibilities as required. 11. ACPE Certification remains in good standing Minimum Required Qualifications: Education: A master's degree in divinity or equivalent. Experience: Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education in a program credentialed by ACPE. MDiv or other Master's degree in theology or minimum education needed for board eligibility by Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or its strategic partners (NAJC, NACC, CASC/ACSS). Three (3) years of experience in clinical healthcare with evidence of competence in spiritual health provision and education. Certification: Certified as ACPE CEC Phase 2 or ACPE Certified Educator PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs., 0-33% of the workday (occasionally) Lifting 25 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
