Full job description
About The Role:
We are seeking a commercially minded, highly analytical Treasury Manager to join Paysend’s Treasury team in London. This role combines hands-on treasury operations with strategic commercial impact, supporting Paysend’s continued growth through effective liquidity management, funding optimisation, safeguarding oversight, FX operations, and technology-driven process improvement.
The successful candidate will bring strong treasury experience within an EMI, fintech, payments company, or regulated financial services environment, together with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. You will be comfortable working with data to identify opportunities, improve processes, build scalable reporting, and support better decision-making. Knowledge of SQL and Python would be advantageous.
Beyond day-to-day treasury execution, you will play an important role in understanding and improving how treasury decisions influence cash efficiency, funding costs, unit economics, profitability, pricing, and market expansion. You will work closely with Finance, Compliance, Product, Operations, and Commercial teams to optimise cash usage, manage liquidity and financial risk, improve settlement and safeguarding processes, and enable scalable growth across a complex international payments environment.
We are looking for a resilient, proactive doer who can operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and balance immediate operational priorities with longer-term strategic thinking. You should be curious, data-driven, commercially aware, and comfortable taking ownership of complex problems from analysis through to implementation.
This is an opportunity for someone who combines technical treasury expertise, analytical rigour, commercial judgment, and strong stakeholder management to have a tangible impact on how money moves through a rapidly growing global payments business.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Treasury Operations & Liquidity Management
Manage day-to-day group liquidity, cash positioning, cash forecasting, FX operations, and funding flows across accounts, currencies, entities, and jurisdictions.
Ensure funds are available and optimised to support customer demand, settlement obligations, operational requirements, and business growth.
Monitor and improve liquidity allocation, working capital efficiency, and cash utilisation across the group.
Support business continuity by maintaining robust treasury processes, controls, and escalation procedures.
Commercial & Strategic Impact
Partner with Finance, Commercial, and Product teams to assess treasury and liquidity implications of new products, regions, partnerships, and pricing decisions.
Provide commercial insight into funding costs, FX margins, capital efficiency, working capital optimisation, and liquidity usage.
Support pricing, margin improvement, funding optimisation, and market expansion initiatives through treasury analysis and recommendations.
Contribute to the company’s banking strategy, including bank partner selection, account structures, liquidity provider relationships, and counterparty optimisation.
Support negotiations with banking partners, liquidity providers, and FX counterparties from a commercial, operational, and risk perspective.
Risk Management & Controls
Monitor and manage liquidity risk, FX exposure, counterparty risk, operational risk, and compliance with internal limits and regulatory frameworks.
Develop and enhance treasury risk frameworks, reporting, control environments, and governance processes.
Support strategic decisions relating to counterparty selection, funding strategy, safeguarding structure, and balance sheet management.
Ensure treasury activities are conducted with strong controls, clear documentation, and appropriate oversight.
Data, Analytics & Automation
Assist with the development and maintain treasury analytics, dashboards, reporting tools, and automated workflows.
Use SQL and Python to support reporting, data analysis, forecasting, reconciliation, scenario modelling, and process automation.
Provide leadership and stakeholders with clear insights into cash flow, FX exposure, funding costs, liquidity efficiency, settlement performance, and scalability.
Improve reporting accuracy, reduce manual processes, and help integrate data-driven decision-making into treasury operations.
Process Improvement & Transformation
Identify and lead opportunities to streamline treasury workflows, improve controls, enhance reporting, and increase operational scalability.
Drive treasury transformation initiatives focused on automation, cost efficiency, system enhancements, and process redesign.
Support the implementation and optimisation of Treasury Management Systems, business intelligence tools, and other treasury technology solutions.
Continuously improve treasury processes to support Paysend’s growth across products, markets, and regulatory environments.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Leadership
Work closely with Finance, Compliance, Operations, Product, Commercial, and senior leadership teams.
Translate treasury considerations into clear financial, operational, and commercial implications for the business.
Support executive decision-making through structured analysis, recommendations, and clear communication.
Provide leadership within treasury activities, contributing to a high-performance, collaborative, and control-focused team environment.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful In This Role:
Essential
Proven treasury experience within an EMI, fintech, payments company, regulated financial institution, or relevant financial services environment.
Strong understanding of treasury operations, liquidity management, cash positioning, FX operations, settlement cycles, and cross-border payment flows.
Deep knowledge of EMI safeguarding requirements, client funds controls, reconciliation processes, and regulated funds flow management.
Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to connect treasury decisions to funding costs, FX margins, pricing, profitability, unit economics, and growth strategy.
A degree or background in a STEM, quantitative, economics, statistics, or business management-related discipline is desirable, but not essential. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
Strong analytical mindset, excellent attention to detail, and structured problem-solving skills.
Ability to operate effectively under pressure in a complex, fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience improving processes, strengthening controls, and using data or technology to improve treasury performance.
Experience with FX risk management, hedging strategies, and counterparty risk management.
Familiarity with Treasury Management Systems.
Data automation experience is desirable, particularly SQL for data extraction and Python for data processing.
Experience automating treasury processes or implementing treasury technology solutions.
Familiarity with business intelligence or data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
Knowledge of UK and EU regulatory frameworks related to EMIs, payment institutions, safeguarding, and cross-border payments.
CFA, ACT, or similar professional qualifications are desirable.
