1 year of experience designing solutions for technological problems that maintain the privacy posture of the organization, leading teams across multiple workstreams.
1 year of experience leading the application of privacy technologies (e.g., differential privacy, automated access management solutions, etc.) to solve technical and data management problems, customizing existing solutions and frameworks to meet user needs.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience mentoring and influencing technical roadmaps for multiple business units.
Knowledge in AI/ML privacy, including experience with model privacy, data minimization in training sets, or synthetic data generation.
Proven track record of positioning privacy as a competitive business advantage and a driver for growth.
Demonstrated ability to resolve policy/product conflicts by communicating technical risks to both technical and non-technical senior stakeholders.
About the job:
The Global Business Strategy and Operations (GBS&O) team is responsible for providing insightful review, perspective and direction on the strategy and operating performance of Google’s Global Business Organization (GBO). GBO comprises all the sales, services, product commercialization and business development/partnerships teams that power Google’s ads business.
As a Privacy Engineer, you are a Growth Architect embedded directly within the business. You don't just review launches, you own the privacy design for GBO’s complex initiatives. You will identify sophisticated opportunities within technical and policy reforms to turn potential blockers into growth engines. By partnering with senior leadership, you will provide the technical "how" for business projects, ensuring that Google continues to lead in innovation without compromising on user trust.
The Global Business Organization (GBO) is the engine that powers Google’s full ecosystem of products and services to help customers and partners succeed and grow. GBO includes the commercial arms of Ads sellers, business development teams, and customer services and support, as well as overlay programs that enable coordinated engagement with Google's most complex and important customers and partners.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Take full ownership of privacy outcomes for workgroups and technically challenging problems with a year-long time horizon.
Work alongside engineering and product teams to architect, design, and implement sophisticated technical solutions that promote user agency while ensuring financial and technical feasibility.
Act as a trusted authority to resolve high-impact policy/product conflicts, finding innovative technical paths that mitigate risk while enabling new product features and business scale.
Lead cross-functional groups to improve privacy respectfulness and represent the team’s posture in broader Product Area-level discussions and escalations.
Utilize comprehensive knowledge of near-future privacy principles and technical reforms to provide mentorship to adjacent engineers and foster consistency across the organization.
A problem isn't truly solved until it's solved for all. Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. Bring your insight, imagination and a healthy disregard for the impossible. Bring everything that makes you unique. Together, we can build for everyone.
