Full job description
Location: Atlanta, GA / Remote Department: Legal Reports to: Assistant General Counsel – Privacy, AI, and Data Governance
Why Join Omnicell?
Omnicell is building its enterprise data governance program and we are looking for a Manager, Data Governance to join our Legal Department and help define how data is managed, trusted, and used across the company.
You will develop the standards and policies that govern how data is managed across its lifecycle, establish a data use program with clear quality standards, and design a de-identification program that complies with HIPAA requirements to enable responsible analytics and research. This role turns governance requirements into practical, adoptable processes and controls, so that data across Omnicell is accurate, trusted, and used in accordance with applicable law and internal policy.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
As a Manager, Data Governance, you will:
Primary Impact – Make data across Omnicell accurate, trusted, and used in accordance with applicable law and internal policy, so that business, analytics, and research teams can move quickly on a foundation they can rely on.
Standards and policy – Develop, implement, and maintain Omnicell’s data governance standards, policies, and procedures across the data lifecycle, aligned with business objectives and applicable regulatory requirements
Operational adoption – Translate governance requirements into practical processes and controls that operational teams can readily adopt
Data use program – Establish a formal data use program that defines how data may be accessed, used, and shared, with clear quality standards, approval workflows, and accountability
Data quality management – Define, monitor, and report on data quality standards, metrics, and KPIs — such as accuracy, completeness, and consistency — and partner with data owners and stewards to identify root causes and drive remediation
HIPAA de-identification – Design and operate a de-identification program that complies with HIPAA requirements, including the Safe Harbor and Expert Determination methods, to enable de-identified analytics and research while protecting PHI
Ownership and stewardship – Define data ownership and stewardship models, assigning clear roles and responsibilities across business and technical teams
Governance artifacts – Establish and maintain governance artifacts and documentation, including policies, standards, a business glossary, data dictionaries, metadata, and data lineage
Risk assessment and remediation – Conduct data risk assessments and manage remediation plans for data quality, governance, and compliance issues
Cross-functional alignment – Partner with Privacy, Legal, Enterprise Security, Quality, and IT to align data practices with applicable law and contractual obligations
Reporting and continuous improvement – Provide regular reporting on data quality, policy adoption, and exceptions to data and privacy leadership, and drive continuous improvement through training, process change, and escalation
Data literacy and stewardship culture – Foster a culture of data stewardship and data literacy through guidance, enablement, and training across the organization
