Position Summary
The VP of Education - YogaSix is responsible for developing and leading the overall education strategy for the YogaSix brand, ensuring franchise owners, master trainers, instructors, and studio teams have the knowledge, tools, training, and resources needed to deliver a consistent, high quality YogaSix experience.
This leader owns the vision, strategy, content, programs, and operating standards for YogaSix education. The VP of Education partners closely with Franchise Development, Operations, Marketing, Brand, Product, and other cross functional leaders to ensure education programs support franchise growth, studio performance, instructor excellence, member experience, and brand consistency.
The role oversees the development and continuous evolution of the YogaSix education playbook, instructor training programs, master trainer programs, continuing education, digital learning experiences, and education content. This includes establishing clear standards for instructor selection, onboarding, training, certification, ongoing development, and performance.
The VP of Education serves as a senior subject matter expert and brand ambassador for YogaSix, representing the brand's education philosophy and standards with franchisees, prospective franchise owners, instructors, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Education Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute the comprehensive education strategy for YogaSix, aligned with the brand's business objectives, growth strategy, member experience, and brand standards.
Establish the vision, philosophy, standards, and framework for YogaSix instructor and franchise education.
Build and continuously evolve the YogaSix Education Playbook, including policies, procedures, curriculum, programming, instructor standards, and best practices.
Establish measurable education goals and key performance indicators to assess program effectiveness, instructor quality, franchisee adoption, and business impact.
Partner with senior leadership and cross functional teams to ensure education priorities support broader brand and business objectives.
Serve as the senior education advisor to YogaSix leadership and franchise owners.
Identify emerging trends, innovations, and best practices in yoga, fitness education, instructor development, and adult learning and incorporate relevant practices into YogaSix programs.
Instructor Development & Standards
Own the end to end YogaSix instructor education strategy, from recruiting and selection through onboarding, certification, continuing education, and ongoing development.
Develop and maintain instructor interview protocols, hiring best practices, onboarding standards, and hiring SOPs for franchise owners.
Establish and maintain clear instructor competency, certification, and performance standards.
Develop and oversee instructor education programs that ensure consistent delivery of the YogaSix class experience across studios.
Establish best practices and guidelines for Education Department standards, instructor development, class programming, and education delivery.
Ensure education programs effectively balance technical knowledge, teaching excellence, brand standards, member experience, and instructor development.
Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of instructor training and make improvements based on feedback, business results, and evolving brand needs.
Master Trainer Program
Lead the strategy and development of the YogaSix Master Trainer program.
Establish qualifications, selection criteria, performance expectations, and development requirements for Master Trainers.
Develop and maintain requirements for participation in the Master Training Summit.
Design and lead the Master Training Summit and other continuing education experiences.
Train, coach, and develop Master Trainers to ensure consistent education delivery across the YogaSix system.
Establish a consistent approach for Master Trainers to train, evaluate, coach, and support instructors.
Monitor Master Trainer performance and ensure adherence to YogaSix education standards.
Curriculum, Content & Digital Education
Lead the development and continuous improvement of the YogaSix education curriculum and training content.
Oversee the creation of instructor manuals, training guides, educational resources, videos, scripts, presentations, and other learning materials.
Develop and maintain the YogaSix master training manual and supporting education resources.
Lead the evolution of the YogaSix digital education platform and ensure content is accessible, engaging, current, and aligned with brand standards.
Partner with internal and external resources to develop high quality video and digital learning content.
Establish a sustainable process for reviewing and refreshing education content as programming, brand standards, and business needs evolve.
Oversee education related technology and learning platforms to ensure they effectively support franchisees, Master Trainers, and instructors.
Develop education related resources for ancillary products, services, and programming as needed.
Franchisee Education & Support
Serve as a senior education resource for YogaSix franchise owners and studio teams.
Develop education resources that help franchise owners recruit, onboard, develop, and retain high quality instructors.
Provide guidance to franchisees on instructor hiring, training, development, scheduling, programming, and education best practices.
Partner with the Franchise Operations team to identify education needs and develop solutions that improve studio execution and performance.
Prepare and deliver the education portion of Discovery Day for prospective franchise owners.
Clearly articulate the YogaSix education model, instructor development philosophy, standards, and franchisee responsibilities to prospective franchise owners.
Support franchisee meetings, conferences, workshops, and other brand events as appropriate.
Brand Standards & Quality Assurance
Establish and maintain education standards that protect the integrity and consistency of the YogaSix brand.
Ensure Master Trainers and instructors understand and consistently execute YogaSix programming, methodology, policies, and brand standards.
Develop systems to monitor, audit, and improve adherence to education and instructor standards.
Partner with Operations and other brand leaders to identify gaps in studio execution and determine appropriate education solutions.
Use feedback, field observations, franchisee input, instructor feedback, and business data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Maintain a strong connection to the studio experience by periodically teaching classes and participating in corporate or pop up classes.
Cross Functional Leadership
Partner with Marketing and Brand teams to ensure education content and instructor programming align with brand positioning and member experience.
Partner with Franchise Operations to ensure education programs address field needs and support studio performance.
Partner with Franchise Development to support the education component of the franchise sales process and Discovery Day.
Collaborate with Product and other functional leaders on product education and ancillary training.
Build strong relationships across the broader organization and represent the YogaSix education function with credibility and influence.
Lead and develop members of the Education team as the function grows.
Budget & Business Management
Develop and manage the Education function's annual budget and resources.
Oversee education related expenses, including travel, Master Trainer expenses, instructor education programs, events, and external vendors.
Review and approve invoices and expense reports in accordance with company policies.
Evaluate vendors, partners, and external resources supporting YogaSix education programs.
Ensure education investments are aligned with business priorities and deliver meaningful value to franchisees and the brand.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in education, fitness, wellness, yoga, instructor development, learning and development, or a related field.
Significant experience leading education, training, certification, or instructor development programs at a national, multi unit, franchise, or similarly scaled organization.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing education strategy, curriculum, training programs, and learning experiences.
Experience leading and developing trainers, instructors, educators, or other subject matter experts.
Experience establishing standards, operating procedures, and quality assurance processes across a distributed organization.
Experience working directly with franchisees, franchise owners, studio operators, or other business owners strongly preferred.
Yoga instructor certification and significant experience teaching yoga is required.
Experience with digital learning platforms and development of video based training content.
Strong understanding of adult learning principles and effective instructional design.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex concepts into practical, engaging, and scalable education programs.
Strong business acumen and ability to connect education strategy to franchisee success, studio performance, and member experience.
Excellent presentation, communication, facilitation, and relationship building skills.
Strong leadership presence and ability to influence franchisees, instructors, and senior stakeholders.
Ability to travel as required for franchisee meetings, Master Trainer events, Discovery Days, conferences, studio visits, and other brand activities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with ClubReady or similar fitness studio management platforms is a plus.
