Summary
Ontivity Tower Hands support all aspects of telecommunications installation including the erection, construction, and maintenance of telecommunications towers and structures. This is a safety sensitive position with daily objectives that include ensuring work is performed in accordance with all safety and quality guidelines and expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform work on the tower while ensuring that a safe, quality installation is performed, including rigging, hoisting, landing, fastening, load hopping, etc.
Installation of equipment including masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, RRUs, cabling, bolting, assist in shooting proper azimuth within tolerances, labeling, picture-taking, documentation. Assist in gathering all closeout documents are an absolute must
At the instruction of Tower Crew Leader, perform coax, fiber, lines, and hybrid cable installations, connector installation, sweep and testing assisting, weather proofing, color-coding, labeling, etc., connect coax feedlines and jumpers per piping diagrams, and support and fasten adequately for a quality, lasting installation
Complete grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting and antioxidant use, support of leads, cadwelding as required, etc.
Assist in the assembly of monopole, self-support guyed towers, and rooftops
Assist in transmission line and installation
Assist with daily job responsibilities including maintenance of vehicles, equipment, tool inventory, etc.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
Ability to operate aerial lifts, man lifts and aerial platform equipment a plus
Must be able to work well in a team environment and independently
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
Valid driver’s license
Physical Demands
Must be able to climb and perform work at various heights, up to 500 feet, for long periods of time
Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs.; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
Must be able to meet the physical requirements set forth in ANSI Z359 for fall protection gear.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with a typical work schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with overtime requirements.
Travel
Extensive travel is required for this position. Must be willing to travel out of market/state, for up to several weeks at a time (up to 90%)
Required Education and Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); related trade school education preferred
One to three years of experience in climbing towers, stacking, rigging, etc.
