Responsibilities
The Driver is responsible for transporting clients from Central MA Resource Centers to their destinations according to a set schedule. Duties include ensuring passenger safety, obeying traffic laws, and performing daily vehicle cleanliness and maintenance checks.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Massachusetts Driver's License. Ability to operate a 15-passenger van and maintain a courteous demeanor with the public is required.
I. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Driver is responsible to ensure that clients are transported from the Central MA Resource Centers to their destination according to schedule. Drivers must have strong customer service skills, including communication skills and the ability to coordinate and manage large groups of people.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible to pick up and drop off clients to appropriate destinations. 2. Ensures safety of the passengers and general public. 3. Driver must be alert, especially in heavy traffic or in bad weather to prevent accidents, and to avoid sudden stops or swerves that jar passengers. 4. Must obey all traffic laws. 5. Conducts daily check of the van to ensure cleanliness of vehicle. 6. Conducts daily check of the vehicle and reports any and all damages to the vehicle to his/her supervisor. 7. Ensures the vehicle is filled with gas at the start of shift. Not less than ½ tank of gas at the end of shift.

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience driving passenger van or similar vehicle preferred.
Special Requirements: • Must have valid Massachusetts Driver’s License. • Must be able to drive a 15-passenger van • Must be courteous at all times both to the resident passengers and the general public.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill: • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely • Ability to talk to others to effectively convey information.
Physical Qualifications: • Minimal physical effort required. • Must be able to operate a 15-passenger van. • Requires extended periods of sitting and driving.
IV. SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Work is conducted under direct supervision of the Program Manager. Work may be performed with some measure of initiative and independence.

MassDEP is responsible for ensuring clean air and water, safe management and recycling of solid and hazardous wastes, timely cleanup of hazardous waste sites and spills, and the preservation of wetlands and coastal resources. MassDEP enforces environmental laws, provides technical assistance to cities and towns, issues permits and licenses for activities near sensitive resources, inspects contaminated site cleanups, and partners with other federal and state agencies, municipal officials and environmental stakeholders.
