The Credit Advisor is a client-facing role, responsible for proactively marketing credit solutions to Relationship Managers and clients. The role focuses on identifying new credit opportunities and supporting their execution by structuring, negotiating and underwriting facilities. It also includes managing existing credit portfolios by developing well-founded recommendations for credit approval, ensuring ongoing compliance with documented covenants and financial reporting requirements, and maintaining strong credit discipline. In addition, the Credit Advisor reviews credit limits and monitors collateral, balancing risk and return to support sustainable portfolio performance.

What you will do: 

The Credit Advisor’s main responsiblities are as follows:

• In partnership with the relationship management teams, provide a highly professional, competent and skilled service
• Complete all required credit applications and supporting documentation
• The jobholder is required to adopt a proactive and enquiring approach to all tasks. They should have the ability to work with little or no supervision and to work well under pressure and to the required deadlines
• To use initiative and knowledge to deal with ad hoc requests as they arise and have the ability to see them through to a successful conclusion

In this role you will:

• Advise Relationship Managers on identifying, structuring and marketing appropriate credit solutions aligned to client needs
• Underwrite and execute credit proposals (including loans and derivative structures), delivering robust analysis, due diligence and credit submissions
• Manage portfolio risk by maintaining a thorough understanding of exposures, aggregate risks, trends and key risk indicators, and by adjusting structures or risk ratings as needed
• Provide strong customer service and proactively support business development across new and existing clients, balancing commercial objectives with sound risk management
• Ensure governance and control discipline by adhering to HSBC Group controls and regulatory requirements, recommending/reviewing documentation, and monitoring compliance with published guidelines and risk appetite
• Drive portfolio quality and loss prevention by staying current on legal/regulatory and industry developments, implementing relevant changes, and taking action to improve portfolio performance

You should apply if you have:

• Proven experience in private banking credit / Lombard lending (or closely related credit role)
• Strong knowledge of financial markets, products, services and associated risks
• Proven experience monitoring complex Private Bank credit transactions beyond traditional Lombard lending
• Solid exposure to derivatives and complex Over-the-counter (OTC) transactions (experience preferred)
• Strong analytical, reporting and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with and guide Relationship Managers
• Proactive, improvement-focused mindset; interest in innovation and process efficiency
• Fluent English and French; another language is a plus
• University degree preferred
• Knowledge of Avaloq strongly preferred
