Automation has become an increasingly important capability across technology operations, but adoption has evolved organically across teams, resulting in varying approaches, standards, and levels of maturity.
We are looking for an experienced automation leader who is passionate about modern infrastructure operations and solving complex problems through automation. This role will help shape the future of automation by defining standards, driving adoption, building reusable solutions, and modernizing operational processes across technology teams.
While the role includes leadership of a small team, the successful candidate will be expected to remain close to the technology, contributing technical direction, architecture, standards, and hands-on guidance to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business objectives.
This is an opportunity to build a lasting automation capability that improves operational efficiency, strengthens consistency, reduces risk, and enables teams to focus on higher-value work.
You are an experienced automation engineer and technology leader who enjoys solving complex operational challenges through engineering and automation.
You have a proven track record of building scalable automation solutions, establishing standards, and influencing teams to adopt modern engineering practices. You are comfortable writing code, reviewing automation designs, mentoring engineers, and engaging senior stakeholders to help drive strategic outcomes.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
