Job Summary
Install, maintain, and repair elevators, escalators and related lifting systems. Perform mechanical and electrical diagnostics, safety inspections, and technical documentation.

Main Duties
Install and assemble elevator components including cabs, rails, doors, motors, drive systems and control units.
Inspect, test and maintain mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Troubleshoot malfunctions, perform diagnostics using testing equipment, and complete necessary repairs or adjustments.
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, manufacturer manuals and specifications for installation and repair tasks.
Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance programs and conduct safety inspections in accordance with regulations and standards.
Coordinate with building managers, contractors and other trades; prepare service reports and maintain maintenance records.
Requirements
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or trade certification in elevator mechanics or a related mechanical/electrical trade.
Minimum three years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining or repairing elevators, escalators, or similar lifting systems.
Practical knowledge of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems, and ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings.
Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and perform physically demanding tasks safely.
Proficiency using hand and power tools, multimeters and other diagnostic/testing equipment.
Flexibility to attend multiple job sites, work extended hours when required, and reliable transportation to reach sites.
Required Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude and technical proficiency with elevator systems and components.
Knowledge of electrical circuitry, control logic and basic motor/drive systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and manufacturer documentation.
Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills for coordinating with clients and other trades.
Commitment to safety practices, including fall protection, confined space awareness and lockout/tagout procedures.
