This Branch also leads the evolution of the technology practice around digital service delivery including the expansion of DevOps, and the delivery of modern architecture support.
Role Responsibilities
The Software Delivery Branch is seeking a Senior DevOps Specialist to support the design and operation of hybrid cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on OpenShift platform engineering. Reporting to the Manager, CloudOps, this role is responsible for container platform operations across on-prem and Azure environments, ensuring platforms are secure, reliable, and scalable for critical government services.
The position works closely with Product and Platform Teams to enable consistent, automated, and production-ready infrastructure, and provides subject-matter expertise on container platform operations and DevOps best practices.
The responsibilities of this role include:
Support the lifecycle management of OpenShift clusters (on-prem and Azure Red Hat OpenShift), including provisioning, upgrades, scaling, and capacity management.
Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tooling to enable standardized, secure, and repeatable deployments across on-prem and Azure environments.
Contribute to platform reliability through monitoring, alerting, incident response, and troubleshooting of cluster health and performance issues.
Support release orchestration and deployment workflows using enterprise build and release tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions), including environment configuration and operational consistency.
Implement security best practices for container platforms, including identity and access management, secrets management, and compliance with enterprise standards.
Contribute to backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies for container platforms and supporting infrastructure.
Collaborate with Product and Platform teams to diagnose platform issues, promote DevOps and platform engineering best practices, and mentor team members on container operations.
To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate:
Clear technical communication, including during incidents and across product and platform teams.
Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional environments and contribute to operational procedures, standards, and best practices.
Sound judgment and composure when troubleshooting production issues under time pressure.
A bias toward automation, repeatability, and documenting operational practices.
Practical use of AI tools and AI agents to improve productivity, troubleshooting, and operational automation.
Ability to coach and mentor others on platform engineering and DevOps practices.
Note:This role is focused on OpenShift cluster operations, platform engineering, and infrastructure automation. It is not an application development role or a CI/CD-only role. Full details are available in the linked job description below.
