Position Start Date: July 1, 2027
Required Degree:
Master's or Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
Earned Master's or doctorate degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
Teaching experience including ability to develop curriculum, prepare teaching materials, and instruct students in small group or large classroom settings.
Ability to initiate and manage student learning experiences in areas related to the field of communication disorders.
Current Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Clinical experience, preferably in range of settings and service delivery areas.
Duties/Expectations:
Provide high-quality classroom instruction to undergraduate and graduate students in the field of communication sciences and disorders.
Under the direction of the department chair complete one or more of the following assignments:
Create, manage and supervise student experiential learning opportunities
Assist in providing clinical education opportunities for undergraduate students
Facilitate interprofessional education opportunities for undergraduate students (e.g., nursing, BYU child laboratory, medical school)
Supervise the Communication Disorders Peer Mentor program
Manage community outreach and educational programs that enhance undergraduate and graduate student learning
Assist in the preparation of documentation for program reviews and national accreditation efforts
Position Summary:
The McKay School of Education at Brigham Young University invites applications for a Continuing Faculty Status track (tenure track equivalent) professional teaching position in the Department of Communication Disorders. Starting rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
This faculty position will focus on providing high-quality instruction to undergraduate and graduate students in the field of communication sciences and disorders, teaching a range of courses that support the academic clinical preparation of future speech-language pathologists or audiologists, while promoting the mission and aims of a BYU education. A portion of this position will also involve student mentoring, clinical service, and administration as directed by the department chair.
