Job Overview We are seeking a professional and experienced Registered Manager to lead Yorkshire Community Care’s regulated services. The post-holder will be responsible for the safe, effective and compliant operation of a service delivering high-quality, person-centred care to adults with additional needs. This role requires strong leadership, sound knowledge of CQC requirements and social care best practice, and the ability to drive continuous improvement while promoting dignity, independence and positive outcomes for people we support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide visible, constructive leadership and day-to-day management of the service, ensuring delivery of compassionate, person-centred care in line with individual care plans and organisational values.
Ensure full compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations, legislation and statutory guidance, maintaining records and evidence to demonstrate service standards.
Lead on quality assurance, audit and service improvement activities, analysing performance data, undertaking reviews and implementing action plans to address shortfalls.
Manage staffing levels, recruitment, induction and retention, ensuring the team have the right skills, training and supervision to meet service-user needs.
Conduct regular supervision, appraisal and competency assessments for staff; identify training needs and support professional development to maintain high standards of care.
Oversee care planning, risk assessments and review processes to ensure person-centred approaches are current, effective and accurately documented.
Act as the accountable lead for safeguarding, health and safety, ensuring concerns are identified, investigated and reported promptly in line with organisational and statutory procedures.
Manage budgets and resource allocation within delegated authority, ensuring cost-effective service delivery without compromising quality and safety.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with service users, families, carers and external stakeholders including healthcare professionals, commissioners and regulatory bodies.
Prepare and present reports, service updates and evidence for inspections, governance meetings and commissioners as required.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, equality, diversity and inclusion across the service and participate in organisational initiatives and governance activities.
Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control procedures, medication management policies and all organisational health and safety requirements.
Person Specification
Registered Manager with current registration where applicable (or eligible and committed to registration), with proven experience of managing regulated health or social care services.
Strong knowledge of CQC fundamental standards, Health and Social Care legislation and statutory guidance relevant to adult social care.
Demonstrable leadership and people management skills with experience of leading multidisciplinary teams and supporting staff development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with people who use services, families, colleagues and external partners.
Experience of quality assurance, audit, safeguarding processes and risk management, with the ability to identify improvements and implement effective change.
Strong organisational and administrative skills, including accurate record-keeping, report writing and use of IT systems for rostering, reporting and care records.
Financial awareness with experience of budget management or resource planning in a care setting.
Calm, professional and solution-focused approach with sound decision-making skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references as part of pre-employment checks.
Commitment to promoting dignity, independence, equality and inclusion for all service users and to upholding organisational values.
Flexible approach to working hours to meet service needs; may include occasional early starts, evenings or weekend commitments.
