Supervise day-to-day operations and staff for the maintenance of government parks, facilities, and athletic fields. Ensure compliance with safety standards and manage landscaping, custodial, and construction tasks.
Requires a high school diploma or GED with vocational training and at least three years of experience in parks maintenance. A valid driver's license is mandatory, and supervisory experience is preferred.
The purpose of this classification is to supervise the day-to-day operations and staff involved in the maintenance of Consolidated Government parks and facilities following all county departmental policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Education: High school diploma or GED with vocational or technical training in landscaping, parks maintenance or related field
Experience: Three (3) years in parks maintenance required; one (1) year experience in crew/staff supervision preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of safe working practices and horticultural, turf management and/or cemetery practices
Demonstrated ability to work independentl
Licensing/Certification: Possession of a valid driver’s license with good driving history. If State license is other than Georgia or South Carolina, applicant must obtain a license in Georgia or South Carolina within 30 days of employment. CDL Class A or B are desirable but not required for the job.
