We combine precision construction practices with advanced agronomic expertise to create safe, high-performing, and sustainable playing environments. Our team is driven by a commitment to excellence, innovation, and delivering a best-in-class client experience.
The Role We are looking for an entry-level Construction Manager to serve as the operational leader for assigned construction projects in the Great Lakes region. The Construction Manager I is responsible for ensuring successful project execution from mobilization through closeout. Acting as the primary field representative of SCG Fields, this individual partners with Project Managers, Superintendents, clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and general contractors to deliver projects safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
This role requires exceptional leadership, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills. Successful Construction Managers are proactive leaders who anticipate challenges before they occur, make informed decisions, and drive accountability throughout every phase of construction. This position is ideal for recent graduates and early career professionals with less than three (3) years of relevant experience.
What You’ll Do
Lead field execution efforts for assigned construction projects.
Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure successful project delivery.
Serve as SCG Fields' primary on-site representative with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, and clients.
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction throughout every project.
Develop project logistics plans, sequencing strategies, schedules, and critical milestones.
Produce and maintain manpower forecasts, equipment plans, rental analyses, and project schedules.
Lead project planning meetings and coordinate preconstruction activities.
Identify project risks early and implement solutions before they impact schedule or budget.
Assist with subcontractor and material procurement activities.
Monitor labor productivity, equipment utilization, rental costs, material budgets, and job costs.
Maintain accurate project documentation using company software platforms, including OneNote and Raken.
Communicate proactively with Superintendents multiple times each day to ensure project alignment.
Promote and uphold SCG Fields' safety culture on every project.
Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), daily reports, and safety documentation.
Coordinate project-specific safety plans in partnership with the Director of Safety.
Exercise Stop Work Authority whenever unsafe conditions or work practices are observed.
Ensure all work complies with project specifications, contract documents, building codes, and applicable regulations.
Oversee quality control for both self-performed work and subcontractor performance.
Foster positive working relationships with owners, clients, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and design professionals.
Address project issues professionally and collaboratively while protecting SCG Fields' interests.
Hold subcontractors accountable for schedule, safety, workmanship, and contract compliance.
Support project closeout activities, including review of as-built documentation and final project deliverables.
Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency, productivity, communication, and operational processes.
Share lessons learned with Operations, Estimating, and Project Management teams.
Assist in developing best practices that support the continued growth of SCG Fields.
Other duties as assigned.
