Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist/ Technician is a valuable member of our team, who provides who provides clinical services to our patient population. Will maintain specific knowledge of safe laboratory practices as endorsed by the New York State Department of Health and Occupational Safety and Health Administration and conducts oneself in a manner consistent with those practices to ensure the safety of all lab personnel. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Duties of a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist may include but are not limited to the following:
Line responsibility for the performance of clinical analysis s in the Department of Laboratories.
Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as assigned according to established protocols to ensure proper instrument performance.
Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures.
Proficient in computer protocols as assigned.
Adhere to all SBUH and departmental policies and protocols.
Perform high complexity coagulation/chemistry testing using both manual and automated methods.
Perform assays consisting of multiple dilutions requiring impeccable technique.
Assist in implementing and validating new procedures.
Actively engage in continuing education in order to enhance the department, including a willingness to attend conferences and offsite training whenever possible.
Interact in a professional manner with nursing staff, physicians, support staff, peers and other members of the hospital community.
Perform other clinical duties as assigned.
Incumbent will be required to work every other weekend. Pass days and holidays as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with demonstrated relevant experience.
Preferred:
Generalist with a strong background in Hematology and Chemistry. ASCP Certification. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Biological or Life Sciences. Master’s Degree.

Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as - $89,142 - $113,055.
The above salary range represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:
Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($3400)
Night shift differential ($000), evening shift differential ($000)
