Inpria is seeking a hands-on, safety- and quality-focused Maintenance & Facilities Engineering Specialist to maintain, improve, and help scale the equipment, infrastructure, and technical systems that support research, analytical laboratories, and production operations. The Specialist will independently execute complex maintenance and improvement work while partnering with Engineering, Quality, EHS, Facilities, R&D, and Production to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, well documented, and appropriate for high-purity chemical manufacturing.
Execute work orders to meet the needs of internal stakeholders across the organization.
Follow documented operating procedures and process instructions.
Highlight logistical gaps in shipping & receiving workflows for external equipment calibrations and provide robust solutions.
Follow safe work practices including wearing PPE and using LOTO.
Perform safety and risk assessments of ongoing maintenance activities and generate procedures for hazardous energy mitigation and LOTO.
Design and install machine guarding in an active production environment.
Create and update critical spares lists for equipment in research, analytical, and production use.
In collaboration with the quality department, establish repeatable procedures for qualifying and changing external suppliers and vendors.
Communicate with parts vendors and develop an understanding of high purity fittings and devices.
Conduct data-driven comparison testing to prove that new processes exhibit the same capability as established processes and publish results according to change control policy.
Develop benchtop mock-ups and proofs of concept to rapidly test and validate experiments or troubleshooting methods before scaling to production.
Perform chemical exposure soak tests and review data to determine material compatibility.
Design and implement a self-contained solvent flushing system to pre-clean parts before production installation, with proper consideration for hazardous material handling and waste accumulation.
Partner with external mechanical and controls engineers to develop improvements to safety circuits for existing production equipment.
Perform in-situ calibrations of process sensors while following appropriate Environmental Health and Safety policies for line break and safe work.
Become an expert user with common maintenance tools and write procedures for use.
Update training and competency records for employees in the facilities and maintenance departments.
Assist with editing operator-level process instructions where equipment interactions are concerned.
Draft updates to equipment drawings and control documentation.
Create more user-friendly versions of important equipment documentation such as flow diagrams for presentation to non-technical employees.
Update and review allowable materials lists for highly sensitive environments.
Assess equipment criticality and severity of equipment downtime.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s of Science in a technical field or 3+ years of relevant experience.
Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and web-based platforms.
Demonstrated good chemical hygiene, safe laboratory practices; recognizes hazardous conditions and addresses them.
Experience performing DOE (design of experiments) and analyzing datasets.
Well-organized, creative, proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, quality-minded, and eager to learn.
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, flexibility to respond to rapidly changing conditions.
Capable of detailed recordkeeping and performing record updates with accuracy and thoroughness.
Preference given to candidates with cleanroom and/or chemical processing experience.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without the need for employer sponsorship.
Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to wear a respirator upon training/certification.
Ability to wear standard cleanroom attire and PPE.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to move full 55-gallon drums with appropriate equipment.
Ability to operate forklifts, drum lifters, and manufacturing equipment.
Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
Ability to use a keyboard and mouse for data entry and analysis.
100% onsite position.
Occasional overtime, weekends, and holiday support may be required.
