The position provides executive oversight of social media programs across client portfolios, establishing performance standards, measurement frameworks, and operational best practices that drive consistency, scalability, innovation, and measurable business impact. It advances the organization’s social media practice by evolving service offerings, championing emerging technologies and AI-driven solutions, and building strong relationships with platforms, partners, and industry organizations to expand capability and competitive advantage. The role also serves as a visible thought leader and senior people leader, developing high-performing teams, guiding resource strategy, supporting business development, and fostering an inclusive, values-driven culture focused on excellence and continuous improvement.
What you'll do
Lead Social Media Strategy and Vision — Establish and advance the strategic vision, priorities, goals, and long-term roadmap for the agency's paid social, influencer marketing, and organic social media capabilities. Align departmental objectives with broader business goals while identifying opportunities that strengthen client outcomes, agency growth, and competitive differentiation.
Oversee Social Media Program Performance — Provide strategic oversight for social media programs across client portfolios, ensuring initiatives are effectively planned, executed, optimized, measured, and aligned with client business objectives. Establish performance standards, measurement frameworks, and reporting practices that connect social media investments to meaningful business outcomes while driving continuous improvement and innovation.
Lead Social Media Practice Development — Develop and enhance the agency's social media capabilities, methodologies, processes, and best practices across paid social, influencer marketing, and organic social disciplines. Establish operational standards, methodologies, training programs, and best practices that promote consistency, scalability, quality, and performance across the social media organization. Continuously evolve service offerings to meet changing client needs, market conditions, and platform developments.
Drive Innovation and Emerging Technology Adoption — Identify, evaluate, and champion emerging technologies, platform capabilities, AI solutions, automation opportunities, and industry innovations that improve operational efficiency, campaign effectiveness, and long-term competitive advantage for clients and the agency
Lead Platform and Strategic Partner Relationships — Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with social media platforms, technology providers, influencer marketing partners, and industry organizations. Leverage partnerships to enhance agency capabilities, access emerging opportunities, support innovation initiatives, and create value for clients and internal teams.
Serve as a Social Media Thought Leader — Act as a trusted subject matter expert on social media marketing, platform developments, influencer trends, content strategy, social commerce, measurement practices, and emerging technologies. Provide strategic recommendations, points of view, and educational guidance that strengthen client results and organizational expertise. Represent the agency through industry events, platform partnerships, speaking opportunities, and thought leadership initiatives that elevate organizational visibility and credibility.
Lead and Develop High-Performing Teams — Build, mentor, and develop social media leaders and team members through coaching, performance management, knowledge sharing, succession planning, and professional development. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement while ensuring teams have the resources and support necessary to succeed.
Manage Operational and Resource Effectiveness — Provide leadership for workforce planning, resource allocation, staffing strategies, and operational processes across the social media organization. Monitor capacity, optimize team utilization, and ensure resources are aligned to client commitments, business priorities, and future growth objectives.
Support Agency Growth and Business Development — Contribute to organizational growth through new business opportunities, strategic planning, thought leadership, industry engagement, client presentations, and agency marketing initiatives. Partner with leadership teams to position the agency's social media capabilities and strengthen market presence.
Champion Agency Values and Culture — Champion and model the agency's values of Humanity, Diversity, Integrity, Tenacity, and Curiosity. Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture while promoting ethical decision-making, accountability, innovation, and professional excellence throughout the organization.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
10+ years of progressive experience in social media marketing, digital marketing, or a related field, including leadership responsibility for social media teams, client strategy, and departmental or account-level decision-making.
Demonstrated success leading paid social, influencer marketing, and organic social media programs for national, regional, or multi-location brands. Strong understanding of social media analytics, measurement, attribution, content strategy, social commerce, and performance reporting.
Experience developing and managing strategic relationships with social media platforms, technology providers, influencer partners, and industry organizations to support innovation, capability development, and business growth.
Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams through coaching, performance management, talent development, and resource planning.
