We are hiring an NDT Radiography Technician III to perform and oversee radiographic nondestructive testing (RT/NDT) activities supporting aerospace manufacturing, quality assurance, and compliance programs. This role requires NAS410/BSS7698 Level II Radiographic Testing certification, expertise in aerospace inspection standards, defect detection, quality documentation, and NDT process control to ensure the integrity and safety of aerospace components and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and oversee radiographic nondestructive testing (RT) inspections in accordance with NAS410, BSS7698, customer requirements, and aerospace quality standards.
- Set up, standardize, calibrate, and operate radiographic testing equipment while conducting required system performance checks.
- Process parts, evaluate inspection results, and determine product acceptance or rejection based on applicable specifications and standards.
- Document inspection findings, test results, and quality records in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of NDT procedures and work instructions.
- Conduct system performance verification activities in accordance with approved process standards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace codes, standards, specifications, and customer requirements governing radiographic testing.
- Provide technical guidance, oversight, and safety instruction to trainees and Level I NDT personnel.
- Maintain radiographic testing equipment and ensure proper calibration, operational readiness, and compliance with inspection requirements.
- Inspect and report damage or issues involving reference standards, calibration artifacts, and inspection equipment.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to investigate and resolve nonconformance issues.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits and quality system assessments.
- Maintain current knowledge of radiographic testing technologies, aerospace inspection techniques, and industry best practices.
- Develop written work instructions from approved procedures for final review and approval by certified Level III personnel.
- Support surveillance activities and corrective action efforts related to quality and process compliance programs.
- Maintain awareness of aircraft, aerospace, or vehicle manufacturing and maintenance processes.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical degree in a related field preferred.
- Documented formal training in Nondestructive Testing (NDT).
- NAS410/BSS7698 Level II Certification in Radiographic Testing (RT) required.
- Strong understanding of radiographic inspection principles, NDT methods, and defect evaluation techniques.
- Ability to set up, calibrate, standardize, and operate radiographic testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Experience documenting inspection results and maintaining quality records.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commitment to quality, safety, ethics, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical degree in Aerospace, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Quality, or related discipline.
- Certification in additional NDT methods, including:
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Eddy Current Testing (ET)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Experience with Computed Tomography (CT) inspection techniques.
- Aerospace, aviation, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing experience.
- Aircraft or vehicle maintenance experience.
- Experience developing NDT work instructions and supporting process improvement initiatives.
