Title: Manufacturing Engineer                                                           Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

American Rheinmetall is a leader in the design, development, and production of advanced tracked and wheeled vehicles, vehicle systems, and critical components that support U.S. military modernization. Our expertise spans electronic and mechanical systems, fabricated structures, armored products, rubber solutions, and track systems, delivering reliable innovation to both defense and commercial markets. As part of the global Rheinmetall family, we combine proven heritage with forward-looking technology to provide solutions that defend and feed the world.
 
Summary Utilizes engineering methodology to support program launch readiness, production planning and continuous improvement.  Provides the necessary engineering knowledge, processing skills and technical support to ensure AR achieves optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity, and delivery to internal and external customer satisfaction.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Development, review, maintenance, and control of engineering documentation.  Including TDP (Technical Data Package), Bill of Material, Process Flow / Routings, Floor Layouts, PFMEA, and Work Instructions.
  • Provide support to estimating on quoting.
  • Develop and validate processes and processing times / standards.
  • Support lessons learned activities and implementation into quotes and standards.
  • Identification of tooling needs.  Assistance in tool conceptualization.
  • Support manufacturing with process and document interpretation.
  • Identify and address opportunities to eliminate waste within the manufacturing process.
  • Participate in cost reduction efforts and support/implement continuous improvement activities.
  • Work with Quality and Weld departments to ensure validation checks are built into the process.
  • Support corrective actions as required.
  • Support Program Management in APQP activities, as well as project cost adherence.
  • Consult with customers, and provide expertise, to maximize the integrity, efficiency, and manufacturability of designs on new and existing projects.
  • Provide floor support during trouble shooting activities.
  • Assist with customer activities/support as requested.
 
Competencies
To perform the job successfully, an individual will need to contain the following competencies:
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, models, drawings and technical specifications.
  • Extensive working knowledge of manufacturing practices in a diverse range of processes.
  • Understanding of GD&T applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of process flows, material flow, assistive tooling devices.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and varying environment.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply problem solving tools and methodology to a variety of manufacturing and business process issues.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred. 
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other engineering field and five (5) years manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2+ years of fabrication/machining and metal experience along with program/project management experience preferred. Experience with precision measuring equipment helpful.
