Responsibilities

The practitioner is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating specialized technical security training using blended learning methodologies. They must ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and monitor the impact of learning interventions to provide continuous improvement recommendations.

Requirements

Candidates must have an NQF level 6 qualification in Education, Training and Development, a PSIRA Grade A certificate, and PFTC certification in Supervise Firearm Training. A minimum of five years of operational security experience is required, including at least three years in learning and development facilitation.

Full job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Deliver specialised and technical training materials using integrated or blended learning methodologies focused on physical security.

  • Plan and prioritise training needs, interventions and resources to ensure training and development align with operational requirements. 

  • Engage with key stakeholders to meet all regulatory and business requirements, ensuring compliance and high-quality learning.   

  • Perform learning and administrative duties, serving as the main point of contact for clients regarding security training. 

  • Conduct both formative and summative assessments to evaluate staff competence through workplace or virtual training methods. 

  • Monitor the quality and impact of learning and development interventions, compile integrated reports and provide recommendations for continuous improvement of training solutions. 

  • Proactively broaden knowledge within the functional area, displaying a willingness to improve personal work methods and practices.

The primary object of the South African Reserve Bank is to protect the value of the currency in the interest of balanced and sustainable economic growth in the Republic.

The South African Reserve Bank, in support of its primary objective, must perform its functions independently and without fear, favour or prejudice.

Monetary Policy

 

The Constitution gives the SARB the mandate to protect the value of the rand. We use interest rates to keep inflation low and steady.

 

Financial Stability

 

The SARB has a mandate to protect and enhance financial stability. We identify and mitigate systemic risks that might disrupt the financial system.

 

Prudential Regulation

 

The Prudential Authority regulates financial institutions and market infrastructures to promote and enhance their safety and soundness, and support financial stability.

 

Financial Markets

 

Open market operations are the main tool we use to implement monetary policy. We manage South Africa’s gold and foreign exchange reserves.

 

Financial Surveillance

 

The SARB is responsible for regulating cross-border transactions, preventing the abuse of the financial system and supporting the regulation of financial institutions.

 

Payments and Settlements

 

The SARB is responsible for ensuring the safety and soundness of the national payment system, which is the backbone of South Africa’s modern financial system.

 

Statistics

 

The SARB provides important economic and financial statistics that present an overview of the economic situation in South Africa.

 

Research

 

Research conducted by the SARB focuses on economics, financial stability, banking and emerging trends in finance. Our research supports policy decision-making.

The SARB has the sole right to make, issue and destroy banknotes and coin in South Africa.


Group Security Management Department (GSMD)

The Group Security Management Department comprises of the following three divisions:

  • Security Operations
  • Security Governance, Risk and Compliance
  • Security Auxiliary Services

Function

  • To provide a security risk service for the group in terms of personnel security vetting, risk and threat analysis as well as other specialized areas pertaining to information security and countermeasures;
  • To provide security execution commensurate with the security risk through the provision of a robust and resilient physical protection system for the SARB Group in compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures;
  • To develop and implement a security governance framework for the Group;
  • To provide a security system including the Firearms Management function and to provide quality driven ETD solutions that meet the security training needs of the Group;
  • To monitor implementation and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and to provide administrative support and project management for the department; and
  • To provide Human Resources services, advice and leadership to the department.
