The Monitor Technician observes, interprets, and documents EKG tracings for telemetry-monitored patients to identify any deviations from the norm. They are responsible for operating monitoring systems to full capacity and ensuring the safe functioning of all telemetry equipment.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma and either a completed monitor technician surveillance program or one year of relevant experience. Successful completion of the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool is required for orientation release.
Part Time, Night Shift, 24 hours/week
7pm - 7am
Must be available to work during the week and on weekends
Observes, recognizes, interprets, evaluates, and documents EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients in order to detect deviations from patient's norm. Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias. Operates and utilizes monitoring system to full capacity. Ensures proper and safe functioning of the telemetry equipment.
High School Diploma and completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course (Required)
High School Diploma and 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years may be accepted in substitute of a monitor tech surveillance program/course
Candidates who have not completed a monitor technician surveillance program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire.
To be released from new employee orientation all Monitor Technicians must successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool which includes passing a basic arrhythmia exam
1 year of experience in monitor technician surveillance/EKG monitoring within the last 5 years may be accepted in lieu of a monitor tech surveillance program/course
