Job Description
The School of Applied Psychology is dedicated to developing capable, compassionate and future focused graduates who can make a difference in the lives of individuals, organisations and communities. Through innovative education and strong industry connections, we combine academic rigour with practical learning experiences that prepare students for diverse professional pathways.
As a Lecturer (Level B) – Counselling, you will play a key role in delivering high quality counselling education, clinical supervision, and professional training within the School of Applied Psychology. You will support the development of future counselling practitioners through innovative teaching, student mentorship, and engagement with industry and professional stakeholders, while contributing to the School’s collaborative and practice focused culture.
As a Lecturer (Level B) you will:
Deliver engaging teaching and learning experiences that support students’ professional growth, counselling capability, and readiness for practice.
Provide clinical supervision and guidance to counselling students undertaking practice-based learning and placement experiences.
Coordinate courses and contribute to curriculum enhancement to ensure contemporary, industry aligned learning outcomes.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with professional bodies, community organisations, and internal stakeholders to support student learning and program quality.
Contribute to scholarship, service, and governance activities that strengthen the counselling discipline and the broader School community.
This is a continuing, full time position primarily based at Griffith University Gold Coast. As Griffith is a multi-site university you may be required to work across other locations.
Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be Academic Level B range $117,076 - $139,031 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $136,979 - $162,667 per annum.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of clinical counselling expertise, higher education teaching experience, and a commitment to developing the next generation of counselling professionals.
You will also have:
A postgraduate qualification in counselling, counselling psychology, or a closely related discipline.
Current registration or clinical membership with a recognised professional body such as PACFA or ACA, together with recognised clinical supervisor status.
Experience teaching, coordinating courses, or developing curriculum within a higher education setting, with a student-centred approach to learning.
The ability to build effective relationships with students, colleagues, industry partners, and professional stakeholders, while contributing to scholarship and service activities.
