The PACU RN provides direct nursing care to post-surgical patients recovering from anesthesia while monitoring and documenting their conditions. They are responsible for implementing care plans, coordinating discharge needs, and educating patients and their families.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited school of nursing with current RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS certifications. At least one year of acute care or military RN experience is required.

The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a dynamic, all-RN environment where teamwork and support are at the center of everything we do. With a consistent 2:1 patient-to-RN ratio, caregivers are never alone and always surrounded by experienced colleagues committed to patient safety and collaboration. As a PACU RN, you will care for post-surgical patients recovering from anesthesia while building specialized skills in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting that offers continuous learning and professional growth.
A caregiver in this position works days| on-call requirements - rotation| 11:00am—11:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment
One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
