The Logistics Lieutenant supervises day-to-day support operations to ensure the operational readiness of medical equipment, supplies, and pharmacy systems. This role involves managing logistics personnel and serving as a subject matter expert for critical medical devices to support clinical effectiveness.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid Virginia driver's license, with EMT certification required or obtainable within a year. Demonstrated supervisory ability and experience with inventory systems are essential, while prior EMS logistics experience is preferred.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Logistics Lieutenant serves as a first-line supervisor responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of Richmond Ambulance Authority's logistics systems, including equipment, supplies, and medical devices. Working under the direction of the Logistics Captain, the Lieutenant oversees day-to-day support operations, facilitates internal communication, supervises logistics personnel, and ensures the continuous availability of critical supplies and equipment. This role directly impacts clinical effectiveness and field operations by maintaining operational support structures that are dependable, responsive, and mission-ready.
The Lieutenant also acts as the department's subject matter expert for essential medical devices and may be assigned to coordinate specific programs, including the agency pharmacy or supply management systems. In the absence of the Logistics Captain, the Lieutenant may be designated as Acting Captain to maintain continuity of operations.

Logistics Lieutenants are evaluated bi-annually by the Logistics Captain based on operational effectiveness, supervision, equipment and inventory management, documentation accuracy, and compliance with agency policies and procedures.
