Who we are looking for...
We are seeking a Senior Water Utility Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex utility infrastructure projects for municipal and public-sector clients. This senior-level role is ideal for a technically strong and client-focused professional with experience managing water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and related utility projects from concept through design, permitting, bidding, and construction support.
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of project management leadership, technical utility design expertise, client relationship management, and business development capability. This person will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, mentor technical staff, and help grow our utility practice through excellent project execution and strategic market engagement. Key Responsibilities:
Manage utility infrastructure projects involving water distribution, wastewater collection, pumping systems, force mains, gravity sewer, reclaimed water, and utility rehabilitation or expansion improvements.
Lead projects through all phases, including planning, feasibility evaluation, preliminary engineering, final design, permitting, bidding, and construction phase services.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subconsultants, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams.
Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans, and monitor progress to ensure successful delivery.
Provide senior technical oversight and quality control for utility engineering documents, calculations, reports, plans, and specifications.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams that may include civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, environmental, and GIS support staff.
Support and maintain strong relationships with municipal utility owners and public-sector clients.
Identify opportunities for follow-on work, assist with proposals and interviews, and contribute to business development and strategic growth initiatives.
Mentor project engineers, designers, and younger staff to support technical development and career progression.
Support construction administration activities such as responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, evaluating change orders, and conducting site visits as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.).
Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in utility engineering, with significant experience in project management for municipal water and/or wastewater projects.
Demonstrated experience managing budgets, schedules, teams, and client communications on multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong knowledge of utility design standards, permitting requirements, and public-sector project delivery.
Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
