High school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in building maintenance, equipment maintenance, landscape maintenance, or horticulture-related processes. Familiarity with operating facilities, budget formulation, wayside access procedures, environmental regulations, and applicable municipal code requirements related to contracted services preferred. Must also be knowledgeable of applicable code requirements and safety standards associated with assigned contracts, including environmental, watershed, industrial, and fire safety regulations, as they relate to risk management for the Authority. Must demonstrate an understanding of budget formulation, applicable safety codes and regulations, specifications, drawings, and technical procedures related to building and/or facilities services. An associate degree or higher is preferred. Directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis in lieu of formal education or training.
INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.
Supervises personnel assigned to the Rail Operations Department and oversees crews responsible for bus shelter and transit amenity maintenance activities, including the cleaning of shelters, benches, and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) assets. Directs and coordinates activities related to graffiti and sticker removal, vegetation management, debris removal, cleanup, pressure washing, and sanitization of unsheltered encampment areas to maintain safe, clean, and functional transit environments. Oversees the safe operation and utilization of MARTA non-revenue vehicles, equipment, and tools while ensuring compliance with organizational safety policies and procedures. Due to the operational scope and safety sensitive nature of the position, this role requires 24-hour on-call availability to respond to emergencies, special events, severe weather conditions, and other critical operational needs to ensure continuity of services and rapid response to issues impacting facilities and transit operations.
1. Prepares work orders for all assigned special project work performed.
2. Assigns and supervises branch employees, ensuring day-to-day activities in support of branch work goals are completed efficiently and cost-effectively, and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
3. Responds to complaints received from the Maintenance Control Center, Grasshopper system, and Customer Service.
4. Inspects completed work to verify satisfactory results and places work orders in the finished stage upon completion.
5. Develops, performs, and records maintenance inspections for amenities, BRT assets, and transit hubs, as appropriate.
6. Monitors inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies are available to support efficient operations; orders supplies and materials through the Oracle and FA Suite systems.
7. Monitors equipment operation to identify opportunities for productivity and quality improvement; makes and evaluates recommendations regarding the removal of problematic amenities and the development of new policies and procedures.
8. Identifies safety and training needs and ensures appropriate job-related instruction is provided to employees; administers safety programs and conducts annual training needs assessments.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned, including Transit Ambassador assignments.
OSHA 10/30 certification, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A), First Aid/CPR/AED certification, NPDES or stormwater awareness training, work zone/traffic control training, and HAZCOM certification are preferred.
This position requires 24-hour "on call" availability, to respond during emergencies, special events, weather related problems, etc.
