Position Summary: The Armory Work Center Maintenance Manager Level II serves as the primary maintenance and accountability lead supporting Naval Special Warfare Group Two (NSWG-2) Logistics Support Unit Two (LOGSU-2) armory operations. This Key Personnel position assists the Civilian Armorer in overseeing the maintenance, repair, inventory management, procurement, storage, issue, and accountability of Combat Weapons Systems (CWS), Visual Augmentation Systems (VAS), weapon accessories, and related ancillary equipment. The incumbent ensures operational readiness through weapons maintenance, inventory control, repair parts management, armory compliance, and customer support while maintaining adherence to Department of Defense, Navy, Naval Special Warfare, safety, and security requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the LOGSU-2 Civilian Armorer in the execution of day-to-day armory operations.
Maintain thorough knowledge of the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, repair, disassembly, and reassembly of Combat Weapons Systems (CWS), Visual Augmentation Systems (VAS), and associated weapon accessories.
Conduct assessments, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and repair of weapons systems and related equipment.
Perform depot-level repairs on applicable systems when authorized and required.
Maintain accountability and inventory control of weapons, VAS systems, accessories, repair parts, and ancillary equipment.
Support the receipt, issue, storage, transfer, and movement of weapons systems and associated equipment.
Manage procurement, receipt, issue, and accountability of repair parts and maintenance materials.
Generate and maintain repair parts usage reports and inventory accountability records.
Provide direct oversight and support to Parts and Maintenance Customer Service Representative personnel as assigned.
Manage work schedules, task assignments, staffing support, and workload distribution within the armory work center.
Process and maintain DD Form 1149 documentation and related accountability records associated with issue, turn-in, and receipt transactions.
Receive, inspect, inventory, and assess returned equipment following deployments and operational use.
Evaluate equipment serviceability and determine maintenance, repair, replacement, or reissue requirements.
Support command inventories, inspections, compliance reviews, and audit readiness activities.
Ensure compliance with all applicable security, safety, physical accountability, and weapons maintenance requirements.
Travel as required to support training, conferences, equipment assessments, and armory-related operational requirements.
Required Qualifications:
US Citizen
Valid U.S. driver’s license
Must hold an active Secret Security Clearance
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
Must accurately enter and track data across systems
Must be able to obtain and maintain installation access
Minimum three (3) years of experience repairing small arms and associated weapon systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of Combat Weapons Systems (CWS), Visual Augmentation Systems (VAS), weapon accessories, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and repair requirements.
Experience conducting inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of military or law enforcement weapons systems.
Experience supporting inventory management, accountability, storage, receipt, issue, and documentation of controlled equipment.
Must meet Lautenberg Amendment (Gun Control Act of 1968) requirements.
Must be willing and able to complete the Naval Special Warfare Enhanced Organizational Level Armorer Course at the earliest available opportunity if not previously certified.
Strong troubleshooting, mechanical repair, inventory accountability, and documentation skills.
Ability to supervise work center activities and coordinate maintenance requirements in support of operational commitments.
Physical Ability to:
Ability to lift and move items up to 75 pounds
Ability to stand, bend, and work in confined or equipment-dense environments
Ability to perform hands-on mechanical repairs and inspections
Ability to perform work in armory and warehouse environments)
Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
