Full job description
Ambrosia Energy is on a mission to make solar + battery systems the fastest-to-deploy and most cost-effective energy source in the US and beyond. As global energy demand surges—driven by the rapid rise of data centers, electric vehicles, and future in-home robotics—the world stands at a critical energy inflection point. To meet this challenge, we need innovative, scalable power sources. Our engineering-led team, with expertise in designing and deploying satellite constellations (Swarm, Starlink Mobile), is now focused on energy on Earth. We're developing affordable, clean energy solutions with new battery storage systems. United by strong team camaraderie, we prioritize speed, rapid iteration, vertical integration, and a test-like-you-fly approach. We're committed to making an impact on the future of energy.
The Regulatory & Permitting Lead will own the end-to-end permitting and interconnection process (if applicable) for our project pipeline, from greenfield site assessment through commercial operation. You'll work across jurisdictions, build relationships with utilities and agencies, and help us move fast.
Responsibilities
Lead all permitting activities for solar and battery storage projects in Texas and other target states, including local land use, zoning, conditional use permits, and environmental approvals.
Manage utility interconnection applications and processes, including queue management, studies coordination, and negotiations with transmission/distribution owners.
Engage proactively with regulatory bodies, state agencies, municipalities, and community stakeholders to advance project approvals.
Track and interpret evolving federal, state, and local regulatory requirements affecting project development and operations.
Develop and maintain regulatory timelines, tracking how risks impact project schedules.
Support the team in structuring projects to minimize permitting risk and accelerate timelines.
Identify opportunities to streamline permitting processes and build repeatable playbooks as we scale our project pipeline.
Coordinate with outside counsel, permitting consultants, and environmental firms as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and experience in a regulatory or permitting role.
Preferred Skills or Experience
4+ years of experience in permitting, regulatory affairs, or project development for solar, wind, battery storage, or other energy infrastructure.
Direct experience navigating ERCOT interconnection and Texas permitting processes.
Familiarity with NEPA, local zoning/land use processes, and environmental permitting.
Strong project management skills; able to manage multiple active permit processes simultaneously.
Effective communicator and relationship builder with agencies, utilities, landowners, and local governments.
Experience in Texas and additional U.S. markets (e.g., MISO, SPP, WECC) is a significant plus.
Familiarity with federal and state incentive structures for solar and battery storage, including ITC, bonus depreciation, and transferability provisions under the Inflation Reduction Act, not required but a plus.
Up to 25% domestic travel required to perform site assessments, meet with landowners and regulators, and attend local regulatory hearings. Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. The company is unable to sponsor employment visas at this time.
