Job Summary
The Automotive Technician is responsible for performing inspections, maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and vehicle upfitting activities on automobiles, vans, buses, and fleet vehicles. Technicians are assigned responsibilities based on skill level, experience, certifications, and demonstrated competency. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant vehicle operation while maintaining high standards of workmanship, productivity, and customer service.
Career Progression Levels:
Automotive Technician I (Entry Level)
Technician I employees perform routine maintenance and basic repairs while developing diagnostic and technical skills under the guidance of senior technicians.
Typical Responsibilities
Perform oil changes, lubrication services, and fluid checks.
Rotate tires and perform basic tire services.
Complete preventive maintenance inspections.
Replace basic wear items including filters, batteries, belts, brake pads, and wiper systems.
Use diagnostic equipment to identify basic vehicle issues.
Follow maintenance checklists and service procedures.
Assist higher-level technicians with repairs.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Complete engine, transmission, and heavy-line repairs.
