This role involves coordinating testing, fielding, and training activities while translating mission needs into actionable technical requirements.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree with at least 14 years of relevant experience in space operations or systems engineering, or equivalent advanced degrees. A TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph eligibility is required, along with strong communication skills and experience in tactical space operations.
Full job description
SAIC is seeking an Operations Integrator to support Space Systems Command's (SSC) Kronos Family of Systems (FoS) and Battle Management Command, Control & Communications (BMC3) mission by integrating operational requirements, software capabilities, and program activities with the National Space Defense Center (NSDC). This role requires an experienced space operations professional who can bridge operational users, government program offices, systems engineering organizations, software development teams, test organizations, and mission partners. You will serve as a key operational integration focal point, ensuring capabilities are informed by operational need, evaluated in mission-relevant environments, and effectively transitioned into fielded operational use.
This position is based at Colorado Springs, CO, and will support integration between the Kronos Family of Systems (FoS) portfolio and the NSDC. You will bring a strong operational Command and Control (C2) perspective and work closely with NSDC operators, mission partners, program leadership, systems engineers, developers, and acquisition professionals to synchronize requirements, testing, fielding, and operational employment.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary operations integration focal point between the Kronos FoS program activities with Program Office, NSDC, and other mission partners ensuring operational requirements, mission priorities, technical capabilities, and fielding activities remain aligned.
Provide operations expertise to requirements development, systems design, software development, test planning and execution, systems integration, fielding, and tactical/operational command-and-control analysis.
Engage directly with NSDC operators and mission partners to capture operational needs, workflows, constraints, mission threads, and capability gaps and translate them into actionable program and technical requirements.
Develops and provides academic instruction, field training, or experiential training to include war games.
Coordinate operational participation in demonstrations, developmental and operational test events, exercises, mission rehearsals, and fielding activities to assess mission utility, readiness, usability, and integration effectiveness.
Gather, process, and analyze military tactical and operational data in support of planning, testing, capability assessments, and operational decision-making.
Identify and resolve integration issues across software, data, interfaces, infrastructure, cybersecurity, mission systems, procedures, and operational workflows that could affect successful capability employment at the NSDC.
Provide operational insight to Program Managers, System Engineers, software teams, test organizations, acquisition professionals, and leadership regarding space force structure, mission systems, capabilities, limitations, dependencies, and employment considerations.
Support synchronization of program roadmaps, capability releases, test events, training, fielding, and operational transition activities with mission priorities and readiness timelines.
Apply knowledge of Software Acquisition Pathway and DevOps practices to support iterative capability development, continuous operator feedback, rapid testing, and delivery of operationally relevant software increments.
Use program management and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence to maintain traceability of operational requirements, actions, risks, dependencies, test findings, user feedback, and fielding status.
Develop solutions to complex operational and integration problems requiring sound judgment, ingenuity, collaboration, and an understanding of both mission operations and program execution.
Adaptable professional with demonstrated success in navigating dynamic, fast-paced environments while maintaining focus, meeting deadlines, and delivering quality results in evolving priorities and organizational needs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree with 14+ years of relevant experience, or Master's with 12+ years, or PhD with 10+ years of experience in space operations, command and control, systems engineering, acquisition, software integration, or related Department of Defense (DoD) mission areas.
At least three years of experience supporting a tactical space operations unit, operational command-and-control organization, or comparable space mission environment.
Ability to translate operator needs and mission workflows into clear technical, programmatic, and test requirements and to communicate technical issues back to operational users.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration/project-management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively across diverse operational, technical, acquisition, and leadership teams.
Must have an in-scope security background investigation (T5), adjudicated for SCI eligibility and rolled in the Continuous Vetting program (if applicable).
Must be willing to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Access Programs and consent to a polygraph examination (as required).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience providing operations expertise to requirements development, system design, test, systems integration, fielding, or operational analysis activities.
Knowledge of DoD software acquisition practices, including familiarity with the Software Acquisition Pathway and DoDI 5000.87, and an understanding of DevOps/Agile delivery practices.
Prior operations experience at the National Space Defense Center (NSDC) or direct experience supporting NSDC missions and operational workflows.
Familiarity with United States Space Command (USSPACECOM), Joint Task Force-Space Defense (JTF-SD), or associated space defense mission organizations and command relationships.
Experience with operational-level command and control of terrestrial and/or on-orbit space defense capabilities.
Demonstrated leadership of or close integration with software development, systems engineering, test, or cross-functional product teams.
Experience supporting exercises, mission rehearsals, training, war games, operational test events, or capability demonstrations involving space C2 or space defense missions.
Strong problem-solving, risk-management, and organizational skills with experience coordinating multiple stakeholders, dependencies, releases, and operational transition activities concurrently.
Why Join the BMC3I Team? The BMC3I mission depends on delivering command-and-control capabilities grounded in operational need and rapidly integrated into demanding mission environments. As the Operations Integrator supporting the NSDC, you will connect operators with the teams designing, acquiring, testing, and fielding the capabilities they rely on. This role directly influences how operational requirements become fielded capability and strengthens integration between the program office and the NSDC.
