Our team is responsible for the tax calculation engine, we provide the core services that calculate the accurate amount of transactional taxes (sales tax and VAT) on Amazon. We thrive on providing the correct tax amounts to the customer at order time, and make sure audit records are stored safely to meet tax law requirements around the globe. Our challenges include staying on top of the complex and ever-changing global tax rates and laws as well as computing calculations correctly and quickly, millions of times a second, and each one needs to be right.

We are looking for software engineers who thrive on complex problems and relish the challenge of operating complex and mission critical systems under extreme loads. Our systems do billions of calculations taking 1000s of inputs, and respond within few tens of milliseconds. Do you think you are up to the challenge? The successful candidate is expected to contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. We're looking for experienced fearless technical leaders who can evolve the tax engine in ever changing worldwide tax legislation.

Key job responsibilities
1. Define, design, and implement multi-tier distributed services and customer experiences
2. Be involved in designing, implementing, and testing of major features
3. Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes that meet requirements for functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to development goals and principles.
4. Effectively collaborate in a fast-paced environment with multiple teams in large organization for full stack development both backend as well as front end.

A day in the life
We are looking for smart, motivated Software Development Engineers who can help in building an automation platform to control the lifecycle of live events (sports, news, concerts) using latest technologies such as machine learning and computer vision. If you have experience building large-scale, high-performance, customer-friendly products and are interested in designing and implementing distributed systems to handle large datasets, complex domains, and problems at Amazon scale, this is the job for you. This is an exciting role, offering a customer-obsessed engineer an opportunity to learn and use a broad array of technologies to make a real impact. Our architecture leverages the latest in AWS cloud technologies including EC2, S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, and Cloudfront in supporting billions of requests from millions of Prime Video users. Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications: - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
