The University of Tennessee Health Sciences invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) program. This is a twelve-month faculty appointment in the fully online Master of Health Informatics and Information Management program. Faculty members also contribute to the education and mentorship of doctoral students in the Health Outcomes and Policy Research Program's Health Informatics and Information Management concentration.
Responsibilities
Develop, plan, and teach graduate courses assigned by the Program Director.
Maintain an active program of scholarship, including research, grant development, professional presentations, peer-reviewed publications, and continuing education activities.
Engage in service activities at the departmental, university, professional, and community levels, including committee participation and collaboration with faculty and professional colleagues.
Recruit, advise, and mentor students to support their academic and professional success.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Doctoral Degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Management Information Systems, Business, Healthcare, or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE: Experience teaching analytics, artificial intelligence, health informatics, health information management, or data management. Knowledge of professional experience with healthcare information systems and computer applications in a healthcare environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES:
Experience teaching at the college or university level.
A sustained record of research, scholarship, and/or external funding.
Experience with online teaching and distance education methodologies.

HEALTH INFORMATICS AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
The Master of Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) program prepares graduate students to lead the management, analysis, and strategic use of health information across the healthcare continuum. The fully online program integrates health information management, health informatics, data analytics, artificial intelligence, information governance, healthcare technologies, leadership, and research to prepare graduates for leadership roles in healthcare, industry, and academia.
Faculty are committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, mentorship, and service while fostering an engaging online learning environment that emphasizes critical thinking, evidence-based practice, and innovation. In addition to educating master's students, program faculty contribute to the mentorship and education of doctoral students in the Health Outcomes and Policy Research Program's HIIM concentration. The program is housed within the Department of Diagnostic and Health Sciences in the College of Health Professions at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences.
